How much should I pay to get an ipod fixed?
I have my nephew's old 6GB ipod. It has the sad face of death so it's useless. I want to send it out to get it fixed, but if I ask how much it'll cost, they'll tell me they need to see it first. I don't want to waste postage, gas, or time to get a quote that I won't like, so before I spend postage, gas, or time, how much should I expect to pay to fix a dead ipod?

I wouldn't pay more than half the cost of a new one. I don't use Apple players, so I don't know what the replacement cost would be.
BTW - have you tried upgrading the firmware or re-formatting it? I've got a couple of sansa players; one of which I have to frequently reformat. No big deal - I just keep the songs on a unique folder and do a mass copy after formatting. |
I believe it is a flat fee to fix most ipods depending on the kind it is. If you have an Apple Store locally I would take it there. Tell them the battery is dead and they will replace it for even cheaper-probably without testing it for othre problems.
