iTunes to mp3 converter?
 

I've been noodling around with Windows Movie Maker on my new PC and, of course, it won't allow you to use iTunes formatted audio files. Since ALL my music is in iTunes, is there a free utility out there that can convert a file to wav or mp3 so I can use it in the Movie Maker?

iTunes will do it.

Go to the Preferences and change the recording options from AAC to MP3, with whatever options you want. Then select the song you want to change and pick "Convert to MP3" from the Advanced menu.

(Then switch your preferences back, so you don't rip your next CD in the wrong format.)

I'm assuming that you aren't talking about songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store, since those are protected. The workaround for that is to burn the songs to a CD, then rerip them. I'd recommend reripping with something other than iTunes, since there seems to be something in iTunes 7.2 that tracks that kind of thing.

ah, thanks. I would just re-rip the tracks I want from CD, but all my CD's are boxed up in the basement and I don't feel like pulling them out.

it is not necessary to use "real disc"

I use a program called NoteBurner to convert aac to mp3. This program is a virtual drive as well as a burner and also needs to be used with iTunes.

in iTunes, you can just choose the drive installed by NoteBurner as the burner and then all selected music will be burned on virtual disc and you can transfer to other player directly and do not need to rip back again.

you can also use a program called super, I find it very useful and it can do most any conversion you want it to.
