comrades: ok so i'll start off my saying that i am not among the set of folk which is deeply immersed in--or even terribly familiar with--programming. but i have an opportunity to develop a cd-rom course over the summer---we have the content stuff without a problem, and we have the graphics concepts pretty much worked out. but we have no idea what is involved with actually putting one of these things together.

has anyone done one of these things?
what is involved with it?
suggestions about resources that i might look at in order to determine whether this is technically feasible for us?
we havent alot of time before we have to sign the contract, so.....um....help?

basically get it working inside of a directory on your computer, then burn it to a CD. make sure you use relative path names instead of total path names to reference files on the CD

ie if you have a picture imbedded in some html, don’t have it point to c:\your directory\pictures\1.jpg, rather have it point to pictures\1.jpg

the problem here is that sometimes i am an idiot.
when i posted the above, neither of us had tracked down the basic stuff.
now we have--and much looks more straightforward than i thought.

so the actually coherent questions are about macromedia director:
is this the best software to use for this kind of project?
can someone who does print design easily transpose that into this context?
and how difficult is interface design to learn quickly?
suggestions about how to go about it?
