Network Question
I have the MLB.TV Premium package and the video streams at 700k. I also have Time Warner cable internet with a Linksys router.
However, the video seems to be lagging behind and I know that my internet's speed is capable of the streaming. Does anybody know how to optimize my internet connection/router settings (port #'s, etc) for MLB.TV? Appreciate the help. P.S. Microsoft WindowsXP, Windows Media Player 11 |
I'm almost willing to bet it's their stream that is lagging, not your side. You might check Speakeasy's speedtest to see what you're pulling down and pushing out. If you're streaming at 700k, and there are hundreds/thousands doing the same, it puts major stress on the pipes.
As for port settings etc, I'm willing to bet the streams are coming in over very common ports, 80 perhaps. www.speakeasy.net/speedtest (choose location nearest you) |
SoccerChamp76, I too have the MLBtv Prem package. I've noticed a lag between the internet stream and the live TV feed, I'm running a dedicated T3 line here and I know I have no issues with speed or lag. I've contacted the service that prodcast's the MLB TV streams and they say the lag between live TV and online is a "normal" issue. What ever that means. Hope this helps.
