FS: cameras and Paris Hilton sextapes (kidding) TV question
I see this says electronics forum yet it seems like it's really just a computer sub forum but I'm going to hook this TV to my computer, does that count?
Anyways, on to the question: I went into Sears today to buy a Samsung 42" DLP. I've been consistently blown away by their picture so I already knew I wanted this but something terrible happened in that store: Toshiba. I just couldn't peel myself away from that 5 minute looped ad(ironically it was a Samsung ad). I ended up walking out empty handed and very confused. I know Toshiba makes a quality product but I've never seen one of their DLP's in someones home before. Anyone here care to share your thoughts on either? |
I can't speak to Toshiba, but I have Samsung's 46" -- and I've never been happier with a TV in my life. Fuckin' amazing.
I've actually heard bad things about the 42, tho. Depending on manufacture date, they've been said to have "black grass" effects. I'd look into it, if you were seriously considering the 42" |
Two things I can mention:
Go to AVSForum.com, and search for your product. Best Audio/Video forum on the Internet. I'm not trying to flow traffic out of TFP, but some of these guys are freaks when it comes to reviews and quality and all of that (concerning TVs/receivers/speakers/home theater/etc. etc.). Secondly, whatever you do, DO NOT buy a Samsung Slimfit HDTV. I speak from lots of shitty experience. Not sure about DLPs. Just don't buy their CRT Slimfit HDTV (no matter what size). |
I don't know how one could be that much better than the other to be honest, if they were both a DLP then I would think pretty much you are looking at the same TV since DLP is a technology not made by either of those companies, but instead, it is made by Texas Instruments and they license the technology out to a few different TV companies.
