Laptop Boo-Boo

I accidentally stepped on my girlfriends laptop today and I ended up breaking off a piece from within her computer - the input jack (if that's what it's called) that the ac adapter plugs into. When I checked out the damage, the connector that plugs into the adapter was bent ... although I tried to fix it, it is to no avail. I know that I'll have to take this in to a repair shop to get it fixed, but I am curious to see if anyone here might be able to tell me how sever this situation is - Is it an easy repair, or am I looking at a costly and lengthy fix? Any insight will be appreciated as I will not be able to bring it in until at least tomorrow night.

depending on how that connector is connected, it could be very costly or not very.

Sometimes a good electrical person can just resolder a new one into place. If not a new motherboard may need to be ordered and installed. Depending on the cost of the motherboard, you may want to just purchase a brand new laptop.
