Can I get the XP product key from the system?
I am trying to help out a neighbor by doing a clean install of XP on his machine. He no longer has either the original disc or the install key. I have an XP disc that I can use, but I still need the install key. The machine is still in working order. Is there a way to get the install key that was used to install the os originally?
Thanks. EDIT: Never mind. I got it. If anyone is curious, I used Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder |
You can use WinKeyFinder, or WinKeyLite on the old install to retrieve the product key - http://www.winkeyfinder.com/index.ph...tartdown&id=12
** And it shows up if you run Belarc Advisor - It is near the middle to the right of the OS line (Microsoft Windows XP Professional or whatever) |
