Power supply compatibility
I was recently given a free case w/ power supply by a guy at work. I know it has an Inwin P300A2 power supply. My current motherboard is an Asus A7N8X-LA with an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Processor.
I am wondering if I can use the new power supply with my old MB or should I just bring over the old power supply with it. (the reason I ask that is the new case is nicer, larger and has better airflow inside.) |

Most power supplys are totaly interchangable with eachother. the only real diffrence would be the amount of connections and where the cooling fans are on it. bottom or front and back or whatever. If your system was newer there might be problems with using a older power supply but i really doubt if you will have any trouble.
Worst thing that will happen is the new power supply wont work and you will need to pull the old power supply out of your old case and move it over. and all power suppys are held in the same way. 4 screws in the back and normaly a little shelf for it to rest on. |

Yea that's what I was hoping. My old computer was from late 2003, and I know the new case is from around then or newer.
went ahead and dove into the switch tonight so far everything is up and running fine. even got an extra USB connection out of it. ![]() EDIT: that's wierd it merged my posts, even though the posts were 8 hours apart Last edited by Confederate; 07-31-2006 at 06:47 PM..
