new computer
I am currently trying to buy a new motherboard and i have picked out 2 different ones for the features and the reviews. I havent personally ever used any of these brands and would like anyones experience and/or worthwhile comments on the below items.

i have personaly used both gigabyte and asus motherboards and both are very good. my last two computers were both gigabyte and the one im using now is asus and i have no complaints at all.
I have always loved amd processers as well. 3000+ is slower then i prefer but if you dont plan to use anything real system intensive like games or anything it should be great. If this isnt your first build i would say go with the asus just because its a bit more popular. customer service is great with them as well. i never had to call customer service for gigabyte though. The asus came with pretty crappy instructions on how to set it up but if you know what your doing it shouldnt be a problem. the gygabites always came with a single sheet that tells exactly how to get it together. so bascicly its a toss up between the two boards. both seem to work well. No idea what to tell you as far as ram goes. never had any trouble with any ram i used. |

i prefer asus to gigabyte, but they are both great makers. ocz and corsair are good brands, both have a lifetime warranty, they are nearly identical, same sped, same timing, the corsair is raited up to 2.1 volts instead of 2.0, but that only matters if your over clocking it and need to boost stability. I’d recommend the 3500 for the processor, its $17 more, but much more power:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103633 the onboard graphics will be plenty unless you want dual monitors or gaming. and dont forget the asus is a micro ATX, so you can get a smaller case if you want. don’t forget a good power supply

I've had both asus and gigabyte motherboards, and they've both worked great for me. The Gigabyte board has better onboard audio if that makes any difference to you.
For the RAM, I agree that ocz and corsair are both good brands, so either one should be fine. I also agree that you should spend an additional $17 for the 3500 processor as that's a small price to pay for a performance boost that will also help your system last a little longer in the long run. |

i havent decided on the processor speed yet, but that is the type of processor that i plan on getting. In the past I have always used crucial memory but the stats on the corsair and ocz are better(if i remember correctly). For now, I dont plan on gaming on this.

get Corsair. There was a debacle some years back with OCZ and since then I haven't trusted them enough to buy their products. I'm quite happy with my Corsair memory though.
As for motherboards, I like ASUS and MSI. I used to have Abit boards until they screwed me on an RMA. If you want the extra expansion slots, go for the gigabyte. Otherwise, I'd stick with ASUS.
