Extracting audio from Flash file?
Is there a simple way to extract an audio stream from a Flash file? I Googled it, and saw a number of places offering to sell programs that do this and a lot more, but (a) I just want the audio for this one song and (b) I don't see anyone discussing those programs, so I don't know how far I trust them.
I'm trying to grab the theme song for PEEP and the Big Wide World, an amazing kids show. My kid loves the song, so I want it on my iPod, but I can't find the song for sale (I bought 3 DVDs of show episodes, however) or download or file sharing. I could go with Audio Hijack to on my Mac to redirect the audio stream, but I'd rather do a direct extraction. Macintosh or Windows solutions are welcome. |

it's not fancy but i just tried it on my pc and it worked - can you launch sound recorder on your pc - and start it while playing the flash file -then you'd just have to convert the wav file to mp3...
(i'm turning in my geek card i'm so low tech |
Yes, that's similar to the Audio Hijack method above. However, with that, I still have to pick a compression rate, probably re-compressing it while doing so, and get the start/end moments right. I feel like I should be able to just grab the dammed thing out of the Flash file directly.

can you PM me an email i can send it to? clean rip from the file.
44 seconds, 24kbps 1 channel 22kHz btw that is the most annoying song I’ve ever heard... are you SURE you want your kids to be able to play at will? is the theme song on the dvd? you can extract a better quality song from there. let me know if you need help with that |
