Saving Embedded Flash?
Is it possible to save a Flash video embedded in a page?
Using Mozilla, I used to be able to do View Page Info Media Tab and find and save a flash video. Now, with the new Flash that is out, it appears that the video is on your hard drive for only as long as it is playing. Although the file shows up in the Temporary Internet Files cache directory, it cannot be copied while the web page is open and deletes itself when you go to a different page. Any ideas? thanks |

I use the following technique.
I have an HTML doc on my desktop that is just a text link. When I find a movie or flash file that I want to download, I view source find the embed tag and paste the file path into my html doc. THen I open my html page and right click the link and save it to the desktop. |

This is happening on Flash 7 and 8 videos.
Here is a sampe site: http://www.on2.com/video_samples/flix-video-samples/ Right clicking on the video itself gives mainly access to "About Flash Player 8" and their settings dialog box. Trying the Page Info I described above saves just the outline of the player-not the contents of the video itself. I tried Frogza's method and it just wants to save the link as an HTM file; not the actual video. I'll look into Flash Save but was hoping Mozilla had kept up with Macromedia. |

The particular technology you are looking at is a company that does encoding for a business and has a proprietary flash player.
