quick and dirty wmv to dvd or compatible software needed
I'm only going to need to do this once.
I made a dv of my wife teaching and loaded it on the computer using windows movie maker. I added titles, transitions etc.. and saved it as a wmv file. Of course it won't play on a dvd player. She needs to send the file to a professor for her masters program. What's the easiest, cheapest way to make the wmv file dvd compatible. we don't care about the quality of the video. I have Sonic MyDVD and Record Now and I don't mind downloading anything (of course I'd rather not pay too much since I'm never going to do this again.) I tried a couple of "freeware" programs some EO program and some gold something, but they never really worked. I also did a search on this folder and didn't really see an answer for my specific request. Thanks. |
ps: I wouldn't normally do this but unfortunately.

Sonic MyDvd should work fine. You can import, just like you did with Movie Maker. You can create menus and burn to dvd. You can also import your already edited movie and burn it to dvd.
Wait; what version of MyDvd do you have? |
hey dtheriault :)
there is a plethora of conversion proggies & tools (that include conv. of wmv formats) available for download on the net. to name a few: convertxtodvd, ultra wmv converter, winavi video converter, magic iso maker... i believe you can get all of these on a trial basis... use then uninstall. (but remember to always follow with ad-aware & spybot-search&destroy, as many trial/free/share versions of proggies hide spyware/adware in the bundle) out of those listed above, i, personally, only have experience with magic iso maker, so can only speak to that. it is also a image file editing & burning tool... it can convert virtually any format to another. it's interface is very user-friendly. all this being said, it is very possible that your mydvd does have a conversion tool. (i have no technical knowledge of that prog.) i would, first, search the help files, tutorials, etc. of what you already have and see if you can not solve the problem there. cheers ( ^_^)/U*U\(^_^ ), ~lethe |
I finally got it to work by strangely enough burning the video to a VCD. As long as it works the wife is happy... i'm happy. Thanks for the help everyone!
