Kodak V570/V610
I'm looking at buying a new compact digital camera and saw the Kodak V570 camera and the V610 (released later this week). They look like pretty awesome cameras for a compact. Does anyone have any experience with the v570 or know of any other comparable compact digital cameras? I'm thinking about getting the v610. It has 6.1 megapixels and 10x zoom along with a wide and normal angle lens. I haven't found any other compacts that compete with this camera in terms of features. Any feedback on these cameras or other compacts would be great. Thanks!

from what I know of these types of cameras this is NOT a true 10x optical zoom. I don't bluetooth since I find it too limiting since bluetooth isn't as ubiquitous as a USB port or card reader.
otherwise it looks like a nice size...tho I've not ever been a fan of Kodak cameras. I much prefer the Canon, Nikon, or Olympus lines for that price point. |
Do you know what the true zoom is? I know the v570 claimed 5x but was really 3x zoom with 5x. Basically it would jump from 3x to 5x. The blue tooth is a nice perk. I've already ordered the internal bluetooth module for my laptop. Being able to transfer without cables and a single push of a button is very appealing.

The v570 claimed 3x optical zoom and a 5x optical zoom range. That 5x range is from the wide angle, which makes "range" marketingspeak for shite.
According to their site the 610 has a 10x optical zoom using its long lense. (38-114 short, 130-380 long) Both have the fairly useless 4x digital zoom. |
