Windows Update Problem
The latest 2 security updates are causing me problems after I install them. It tells me to reboot afterward, and when I do, every time my PC crashes right as Windows is loading. I usually get a few programs to start up, but somewhere along the way something happens and I get that damn blue screen. The only way to get past this problem is to boot into Safe Mode and do a System Restore to the point right before the new updates were installed. Since I can easily boot into Safe Mode, this tells me that there's some conflict with some program while booting normally, but I have no idea how to find which program it is that's causing problems.
Any help? |
that's weird whenever I have a conflict it tells me so when Im booting up, and asks if I want it to disable the driver file causing the problem. I havent even done SP1 yet, due to uhh, problems.

The problem isnt you my friend its windows update. Ive done driver updates more than once at work that render the system unusable. I would say if you dont want to reinstall windows, then dont worry about it. So what, u miss the windows update of the week. Its a neverending process with M$ and if its not this update now it will be another one in the future.

Yeah, but it's a security update.

heh Dont worry about it dude. Trust me for every update they put a patch out for, there are 10 others that they dont bother with. There is an IE vulnarability that is out there right now that will allow any exe to parse thru internet explorer. M$ knows about and has basically said fuck it. Get yourself a good Virus engine like AVG or Panda and be carefull what you execute and you will be fine.

Before updating....have you tried turning off all of your "start-up programs" antivirus, etc...programs thats start when rebooting?
