XP install problem
ok, here's the problem.
my old hd on my old pc went out. so i ordered a new maxtor retail 30 gig one and i put it in. i ran the maxblast deal and it was done and told me to put the winxp disc in. so, i put my xp pro disc in and it tries to boot into it, but gives me an "cannot find ntldr.exe" (http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;314057) so, i cant install from cd, so i try it thru a boot disk. (win98) oh but wait, win98 boot disk cant recognize ntfs, so when i run the setup from dos, it finds no place to copy the files to! so, i decide to make win xp boot disc's, hoping that they would be able to recognize the drive. i'm in the process of making them (there are 6 disks! lucky me!) so, if anyone have any suggestions or recommendations, give 'em to me! |
update: now i'm installing from xp boot disk's.
feel like i'm installing win95 now from floppy's! update # 2 : it's working now, i installed from bootdisks' and the installation is going fine |
