Disconnection every 2 minutes since I'm on XP...WTF?
Hi all,
I have the standard 56K connection, had bought the CD 2-3 years back, and ran it with W98, no problem. Except that now, I got a new puter, and it has XP Home. The CD didn't autostart, so I had to do the config for myself, directed by the support emails. Problem is, the connection disconnects itself randomly very often (as quickly as every 5 seconds), on an average of 3min per connection. Is there anything I can do to stop this? I have already unchecked the "disconnect when idle" thing, un checked anything that talks about auto-disconnection...nothing changed! Help! |
there's some setting in the modem's properties that let you choose how long to wait after idling before disconnecting.
i remember it back when i had a modem, dont have it anymore so i cant tell u exactly where it is. look under control panel -> modem. i use nic now, so i removed my modem. |
have you contacted your isp?
|
Yeah, emailed the isp...helpless. Basically, they said it's normal the CD doesn't work, and they had me check the disconnect features...but to no avail.
I have un-checked the disconnect if idle... Pretty *ucked up |
What is this cd that ran under 98? Maybe I missed something, but, what is this cd you speak of?
