what screensaver is it? alot of the free screensavers you find online are loaded with spyware and addaware and all sorts of bad stuff. If thats not the problem could your computer be going into sleep mode when it kicks on? does that kill your internet?

No it's just a slideshow of pictures in a folder, I only use the default windows screensavers but they all do this. It acts like it goes into sleep mode the way it cuts out internet, but I dunno. If I turn off the screensaver and just make the monitor turn off after 5 or 10 minutes that works fine, I guess I'll just keep doing taht.

sounds like the energy saving features, when your computer's screen saver kicks in, it mgiht be doing it instantly or waiting XXXX amount of minutes etc, but sometime the computer itself is going into a standby or "sleep" mode.
Right click your desktop, properties, screen saver tab, then look for the energy saving and once in there see if your machine is set to go into a sleep mode or standby, my best guess would be this is what is causing your problem.
