Remember the Heathkit ROBOT kit?
I remember looking at the HEATHKIT ROBOT over at the Heathkit
store in Houston, many years ago before Heathkit called it quits. The Robot costs about $500. I think and it could not do a whole lot of things. I remember asking one of the salesguys "WHO BUYS THESE ROBOTS?" and he said mostly Colleges did. Now I read in the latest issue of WIRED magazine where the LEGO toy company is selling the new version of their toy robot kits called MINDSTORMS for around $200.plus sales tax. It makes me want to buy one. (Ebay does not have the MINDSTORMS robot kit yet.I checked.)WIRED story is titled: "GEEKS IN TOYLAND". So does anyone have any info to pass along concerning this new toy/robot/thingy from Denmark? Also....anyone have an old HEATHKIT catalog with that HEATH ROBOT that you can scan and post a picture of it? I'd like to see it one more time. :D |
I don't have the catalog, but you shoudl take a look at the Jameco Robot Store. A huge selection there, and now that I am far more handy with soldering, the projects look more interesting!
