One touch ban and clean
So, this shows up on everyones profile, including my own. I don't have permissions to use it (yes, of course I clicked it!), but the option is still there...you may want to hide it from non-mods.

Ooh sounds like a cleaning product. Didn't notice it until you said that, but yea.. kinda weird.
I tried to one-touch ban and clean you just to see if I'd get the permission error.

It is a cleaning product. It cleans unsightly spam in a few simple clicks.
If possible, I'd suggest just removing the button from profiles altogether. It's not needed there, since it shows up in the context menu under the username on posts anyway. As for how access was doled out, it's a closely guarded secret. I mean, what one touch ban and clean? I've never heard of such a thing.

Cleaning is important That's why I'm still around. When I was banned the cleaning was lacking and once it got dark and damp here, I just continued to grow.

I was wondering about that. I was afraid to click on it. I don't want to ban anyone, good to know I can't.
I love you all, even if I don't always agree with you.

Nah, not really. I have no idea how many times anyone does it. But I've banned 2 spammers in the last 2 days, so I've got that going for me. ---------- Post added at 03:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:46 PM ---------- As far as the suggestion goes, it may just be something that you have to put up with since we've asked for a few long-timers to kill spam when they see it. Which they've done a great job doing.

Yep, it's official. I am a TFP Janitor.
I use it every couple of weeks. Just when a spammer slips through the filters, which doesn't happen very often. It'd be convenient if it'd allow me to ban them without deleting their posts; if the spam's attached to an existing thread I don't want to touch it, because I don't know if it'll take the thread with it. So there's no way to just disable the button in profile? Again, it's completely unnecessary, because of this: (You better watch your back, Xerxys)

I feel very alone and left out. I do not have this button.

You don't want it. Tell me that you could look at, stare at that option under Xerxys' name every single day and not click it. Just knowing that three simple clicks is all it takes, and... just... not... pushing.... it...
Sometimes I lie awake at night and I think about how it would feel. This is not a burden I would share.

Me too.
I was reassured when I was first asked to do it that it can only ban accounts that are younger than some threshhold. So I couldn't "ban and clean" Halx or myself or something weird like that. I think I've only used it a couple-three times. There have been many more instances where the situation called for a more nuanced touch, and I've referred it to the mods. Still, I'm glad to help out where I can, short of being full-bird staff, which I honestly have no interest in. |

You don't get it there because you don't have access to the tool. I checked Magpie's profile to be sure before I posted, and she doesn't have it under the context menu either.
EDIT - I just double checked Frombasics, Blacksmart, vBulltein and Insignia. The option shows up properly in all of them. Regarding the age thing on the accounts, it's news to me. Doesn't really matter either way, though. We seem to have a good system working, and while I don't actually know who all has the tool I'm assuming that the powers that be wouldn't give it to someone they didn't trust not to abuse it.

Awwwww.... you know I was trying to rid myself of a spammer the other day and was like, I know there a button here somewhere on the profile. I poked about couldn't find it.
Looked at the old code, new code, talk to the developer and it should be there. So I fixed it myself, and then banned him. Satisfaction I tell you, especially when you can find the spammer just moments after the submit button is hit. This case was a return spammer. I bagged him once and was trying to get him again before he spammed again! Of course I was so tired, I forgot to put the exclusions in to hide it from non users. Actually I thought it was coded just right, and I apparently was wrong. :P freakin' codes! I was also so tired that I forgot to mention it to the staff that I made the change. You guys are so on top of it, that I must say it has only been up there for 1-2 maybe 3 days tops. Now I gotta add more to my "to do" list.
