I HATE making polls, argh

OK, so I tried to make a thoughtful discussion provoking poll in members section.

First, it timed me out (can't make a poll after 5 minutes!)...wtf?!

So I edited out my whole post down to 'mods plz delete', ([s]since you can't report your own posts[/s] hey looks like you can now, thanks whoever listened!) and the next time, I tried to quickly copy and paste my poll options in.

OK, hit submit, argh, I forgot to put in the question--it just prompted me to hit 'back' and fix it, well when I hit back, it hadn't saved any of my poll options! So now I have to copy and paste them all again, and in my rush, I didn't set the poll options right...it needs to be multiple choice, and I wanted it to be 'votes public' so you could match the answers to the discussion points below.

Short term: Can someone with edit power go fix my poll options and delete my first attempt?

Long term: Why is posting a thread and posting a poll considered two discrete behaviors? Is this a vbulletin thing? I hate it! Can we kill it? It's not the first time I've run afoul the evil timeout.

I tried editing your poll but it seems I cannot make it multiple choice and public at this point. Probably too late.

Deleted other one for you.

I just had the same frakin problem. What is the proper procedure for asking a mod to edit a post?

Charlatan 10-04-2008 08:02 PM

I just fixed it.

And I appreciate it. I was just wondering what the best/official/prudent/most efficient method was for having something like this (or any post of my own) fixed by a mod. Should I click the "report" button, even though ot doesn't fall into the "report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude)" category? Or is it better/preferred to ask for help within the thread, as I did in this case?

You can report it, but you can also PM a mod. Putting a note in the thread might make it harder for us to spot because unless we're reading the thread at the time you posted it, we won't see it straight away, so it might take a while for us to fix it and it'll sit there longer than if you choose reporting or PMing.

Which brings me to another question that I have had forever. Are the moderators forum specific? In other words, If I need help in the Tilted Entertainment, do I go to a specific mod, or do I just PM anyone that I know is a mod?

Charlatan 10-05-2008 02:17 PM

We are forum wide. The best thing is to just use the Report Post. This sends an alert to all mods and admins. Otherwise, just send a PM to a Mod that is currently online.

Thanks for the answers folks.
