Birthdays - 2 thoughts
1. I received an automated "Happy Birthday" email from the board. Personally, I found it kind of creepy and soulless, like receiving a Christmas card from your dentist. I would suggest stopping that practice (but I encourage people who disagree or agree with me on this thought to chime in).
2. At the bottom of the main Forums list is the list of people who have birthdays today, sorted by the age of the member. I also see, by going to the link http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/calenda...005-03-16&sb=1 , that the list on the front page isn't even complete, and I don't know why. Some people who aren't included on the main page have posts, while some on the front page have 0 posts. I think it would be nicer to see the list of names in order by post count, descending. |
Hmmmm.... I don't remember ever having recieved an automated "Happy Birthday" e-mail from the TFP. Maybe it's something new? As for the idea of ordering names by post count, I think it might spark more people to just try and raise their post counts instead of working on making constructive comments. But that's just my thought on this.

that would be a pretty easy code to implement..

I sorta see the automated notice as a reminder for people who signed up to the TFP and forgot about it. I'm sure it's worked a couple times.

I really don't see a point to it.. seeing as post counts are immaterial here.

Hey, I've never receieved a birthday e-mail... I think I was still a rookie though, does that have anything to do with it?
