Religion
I know it can be a tricky subject, but so are a lot of the posts. I say that people need to talk about their spiritual life as much as anything else. I think that some people retreat to the philosophy thread to talk about religion, but it'd be nice to have somewhere to call home for questions and discussions about God, Buddha, and whoever or whatever else.
Just a suggestion. Thanks. |

I think you're looking for the Tilted Philosophy section.

Agreed....plenty of spiritual debate in Philosophy. At least half of the posts relate to religion, without the negative Dogma associated with the subject.

I'd add a "no" vote for a religion board. I am religous, and run forums myself on my website. We considered doing a religion based forum, and looked into it. If the board is purely for that, the boards rapidly become a headache for the mods, with people saying:
1) "god is a fantasy! What about tornados and hurricanes and train crashes?" 2) "God gave us free choice to create and run the world as we wish, he merely provides guidance". 1) "Bullshit. If god cared he'd stop that happening". 2) "God does care, but you have to care abuot him too, and nature is not controled by god or man." 1) "God is a fantasy! You'll never convince me you idiots! Etc, etc, etc - the forums just go downhill and have to be very heavily moderated, with banning and warning going on heavily. You also get the fairly usual debate happening between Deacon (http://www.winternet.com/~mikelr/flame37.html) and Atheist (http://www.winternet.com/~mikelr/flame85.html), which just goes on and on and on.... I feel Philosophy is a good place for it, as there are more people with varied viewpoints and more people ready to pour a dampner on any debates that are getting out of hand.
