When someone is banned, they fucked up, really badly. All you need to know not to get banned is to read the notices, but it's all really common sense. Things such as not harrassing members, flaming, etc. We don't immediately ban people because they did something we didn't like, first, they are warned. We like to give people enough slack so they can get used to the forum since we will inform a person if they are doing something that isn't appreciated. If they don't heed the warning and continue, then they are banned.

Similarly, you don't need the details of why a member was banned. Just trust that they were warned first, and given painstakingly detailed reasons why a particular behavior would not be tolerated.

Unlike my analogy, though, folks are seldom banned for one offense. They need to show a consistent trend of bad decisions to earn banning. Once that happens, we try to move on.

we have rules. we enforce those rules. you don't need a laundry list of whos and whys to figure out where the line is, simply follow the rules. we aren't going to air our dirty laundry for a few yuks. end of story.
