Webcam suggested times
This certainly would not be a must, but i can never seem to look at the webcams when anyone is actually in front of theirs, and at this point, i've been trying for a month or two, so i was thinking maybe if people wanted to/were able to, but suggested times they might be in front of their cams. i know that cams are their thing, and i'm certainly not suggesting there be some schedule of when you can see someone, but i was just thinking they might be able to put some suggested hours when you'd be most likely to catch them in front of their cams... just a thought. either that or i'm simply too dumb to figure out how they work.

I support this idea.
I've caught a webcam with an active person on it only 3 times. But this would need to be very clear - SUGGESTED times would in no way be a guarantee and the cam viewers are owed nothing just because it says a person "might" be present between the hours of x and y.

perhaps something else. maybe a person can change their banners up a little bit, maybe put a star or something in it when the cam is active and make sure they remove the star when it's only a static picture... scheduling cam times isn't the greatest idea... beyond art and his girls (who have professed to being so), we're not really performers, we're just people with a nifty toy who are sharing when we can. i definitely feel that, if nothing else, a person's webcam pic should be updated at least once a day, but i don't think people should get really picky about it. this is us, the people who have webcams, sharing what we care to share with the general public. take it or leave it, but don't bitch and moan because it's not enough for you.

webcammers don't owe you ANYTHING Obviously though, if they have a webcam they want to be watched, so we should come up with SOMETHING to assist in that.

exactly SM, and phred, i'm not saying i expect anything from them, i just find them interesting. If they've gone through the effort of hosting/putting one up, they must have it there so some people can see it. All i'm suggesting is possibly some suggested times in which one might log on to try to catch someone on their cam. i certainly wasn't bitching about anything. Another possibility along what phred said, is split that webcam page into people whose are active and whose aren't, and those who are can sign in when they are or something, and be on the "signed on" half of the page, and the others be on the "not around" portion of the page or something along those lines. just an idea to make them more accessible to those who are interested in seeing them.

i mainly update my cam once in a while. its a pain to get the lighting right for my cam, blah blah blah... but i try to do it regularly... or when halx yells at me to update hehe.
plus i only do one picture because i am on dial up... and its a pain to use that much bandwidth for an update of every 30 seconds... dont let my complaining turn you off from getting a cam. i want to see more on the webcams! |
