Link that Enables Mobile VBulletin Forum Style for Phone Browsers
Would it be hard to have an address that would engage the mobile friendly TFP skin, like m.tfproject.org or tfproject.org/m ?
-- Sorry to say but searches do not work through either of my BlackBerry browsers. Now that my labors spent hunting careers are proving fruitful, most of my days are spent away from home, and I often check out TFP with my mobile phone (BlackBerry Curve 8330). The default browser doesn't work well with TFP; there is no way to change the forum style. Whatever scripts used to engage different forum skins do not work. Before suggesting anything--this is me!--I've played with the BB mobile browser settings till the cows came home, and then just installed Opera Mini. Opera Mini renders TFP great. Also--it being me--I clean out the history and cookies daily, like a ritualistic handwashing, so the setting to keep TFP in mobile friendly view doesn't stick. Would it be hard to have an address that would engage the mobile friendly TFP skin, like m.tfproject.org or tfproject.org/m ? It would redirect to regular tfproject.org but the cookie would have the mobile browser TFP skin enabled automatically. This would be great for me, and probably only me, so I can be lazy and not scroll to the bottom anytime. If this already exists, and knowledge would be appreciated. |

I'm considering getting a new phone - good to know that the Curve can handle TFP, even if imperfectly.
I'm also considering the Samsung Instinct. Viewing TFP on my Centro would benefit from the mobile link, however.

A couple of things to point out with this request.
I currently don't have much free time until mid September. I'm booked solid up until that time. I don't have a mobile device and I haven't had time to find/configure a BB/Palm/iPhone emulator to see what it looks like. I'll put it on my calendar, if Halx doesn't get to it first, I'll take stabs at it in October/November. The time that I currently have will be spent putting effort into the Facebook Connect and getting that draw moving.

What's wrong with vbMobile? The only complaint I have with it is that it's a pain to change the skin back and forth as I go from phone to computer.

I don't find vbmobile to be terribly bad at all, and really prefer the very stripped down style.
@ Cyn While that would be cool, it is way more than what would make me happy (atleast for right now). TFP looks fine to me once vbmobile is engaged. Thanks for all the updates. |

Yeah, the only thing I can think of that I'd really like is if m.tfproject.org went to a vbMobile version while preserving my chosen skin on tfproject.org for when I log in from my computer. That's the one semi-annoying thing: manually changing the skin back and forth.

the whole point for me of going to a m.tfproject.org is similar in function to other sites.. it's really a whole separate site that is made for 3g or whatever.. it has the same content but it made for smartphones..
 I'm not a patient person..and I like my TFP green. |
