Can I buy disabled search flood control?
For whatever reason, I hit flood control almost every single time I hit 'new posts'...I guess I read too fast? I spend probably 5 minutes of every TFP session counting down the 40 seconds...
What's it worth to you guys to disable it? I've donated before, but the amount flood control annoys me has a dollar figure even higher than that.

Hm. I have no idea. I will ask those on staff who know something aobut the innermost technical workings of the site.

Ok! The response is:
Likely possible, but will require some admin-level techy-tweaking. Cyn is currently away on business for the week, he will look into it when he returns.

Well, if vbulletin is anything like invision power board (what all the sites I admin are set up on), you can set post and search flood control separately for each user group...so it might take setting up a new user group, but I'm sure it's possible, just a matter of whether the cost/benefit works for both of us.

Precisely what was being discussed in the back room! Goodness, you're good.

I've cut it in half, that's about all I'm willing to compromise without more information.
I've not looked at the logs as to what our bandwidth and server resources are as of late, but we're not at the peak of performance when it mattered alot more. vbulletin doesn't have the ability to change the search function by group easily so I cobbled up some code to fit the bill. Please let me know if you encounter any strangeness. This only should affect people in the donor group.

I rarely run into the issue. If you hit New Posts and just open the relevant ones in new tabs, you won't have to click "New Posts" every time you read a thread to see the most recent-of-recent-of-recent posts.

I would just like to say that this has improved my TFP viewing experience 100x over. It was everything I'd hoped it would be AND MORE...I've hit the limit maybe once since this change. Thanks Cyn!
