TFP Bowl Playoffs Week One - Discussion Thread
 

Now that the Patriots have taken their first steps toward eliminating the Colts once again in the AFC championship, we can discuss Wild Card Weekend.

Here are the results from week one of the TFP Bowl:

Giant Hamburger defeats djtestudo: 2-2, on the third tiebreaker

maximusveritas defeats dylanmarsh: 3-1

present_future defeats boom29: 3-2

BonesCPA defeats n0nsensical: 3-2

grumpyolddude defeats guccilvr: 3-2

cross-over defeats cheezhead: 3-2

If you are still alive for round two, make sure and get your picks in before the thread is closed. Teams without picks automatically forfeit. I've got my money on cross-over (having defeated my first choice, cheezhead), despite AVoiceofreason's perfect week one.

A roller-coaster day for me. I started the day thinking I was in great shape. I had Jacksonville and their 3 points as my second tiebreaker, and I had a situation where I was going to get no worse than a tie on the games. Only if Cincinatti won and scored more than 28 points doing it was I in any danger, I thought.

Leave it to the Giants to blow my tiebreak advantage. Since I'd picked more points than my opponent, and since the first three games all scored less than the 41 per game average I'd used, I was in big trouble if Cincy beat Pittsburgh.

So, I'm watching the game before going to church, and the last series I saw was the one where the Bengals went up 17-7. Not looking good. Imagine my glee when I came home and found the Steelers up 31-17.

I'm not sure how this round set up; I thought I'd be playing the winner of the 8-9 seeds, which was Crewsor, I thought. Maybe not, and it doesn't make any difference.

But it does make me wonder what a guy has to do to get Dylan's respect around here--winning the regular season and sweeping the first week just isn't enough, huh? :p

I knew as soon as I saw Palmer go down the game was over.

I just hope he recovers fast and it isn't anything permanent physically or mentally, because I think the man is destined to being a true great.

No offense buddy, but I'd be alot more worried about defeating the Broncos at their home turf before saying you're going to supposedly eliminate the Colts on their homefield in the championship if I were you.

I wonder what would've happend if Palmer didn't get hurt.

Oh well.. it was a fun season. I didn't even expect to make it to the playoffs. :D

Wow, consulting with the psychic really helped me out this week. I hardly believed her when she told me that Palmer would be going down in the first quarter. Seriously though, it would be hard to tell what would have happened if the Bengals had him all game, but I think Pittsburgh still would have come out on top.

As you can see above, I messed up on tallying the points on one of the match-ups and incorrectly awarded cheezhead a first round win. Cross-over beat cheezhead 3-2 and advances to play Giant Hamburger in the second round.

I did double-check everyone else's score and it appears everything else is a-ok. If you disagree, please let me know and I will investigate it.

I thought I had a bye till the final round based on the fact that even though they traded all our players (well.. ok not really) that I still love my BoSox ;)

For the record, I pm'd dylanmarsh my week two picks. I did not want to start a completely new thread about it, so I posted it here. I pm'ed my picks before the games, but after the thread was locked.
