Starting with the Big 4:

Rose Bowl: Texas versus USC

Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State versus Notre Dame

Orange Bowl: Penn State versus Florida State

Sugar Bowl: Georgia versus West Virginia

Rose Bowl: I'm going against the trend and picking Texas. They have a balanced defence and with USC having defensive injuries, I can see them winning late in the game. Of course they have to stop Bush. Should be a high scoring game either way.

Fiesta Bowl: Notre Dame--I hate ND.. but I think they're due, and with Weiss as coach.. they should lock this game up

Orange Bowl-- I <3 FSU.. however, I think Jo Pat will win this battle. Penn State has been consistent all year. Now if FSU's defence plays like they did in the first 3 quarters against VT then FSU may have a chance.

Sugar Bowl-- Georgia.. I'm only pulling for Georgia because Mark Richt is from the FSU camp.

I too am tempted to buck the trend and go with Texas - I think they are a better balanced team overall. However, coaching and Reggie Bush will win it for USC.

Fiesta - OSU, all the way. As usual, ND is over-rated in the polls and, Charlie Weiss not withstanding, are not the equal of OSU. I like Brady Quinn, but the OSU defense is going to kill him, IMO.

Penn over FSU.

I haven't seen much of Georgia or West Virginia this year, so not sure. West Virginia maybe.

i just hope usc wins.
i thought they might lose to oklahoma last year. boy was i wrong.

the Beauty Contest System got lucky for the first time in a few years. it seems we have a real championship game...sorta.

I just hope that the Rose bowl is a good game, with all this hype its getting if its a blow out either way I am going to be pissed. I know its going to be hard to be as good as the feista bowl with OSU and Miami.

Texas, OSU, Penn st, and Georga.

As long as texas can stop Bush, they have a good secondary so it will be interesting. OSU should beat ND assuming they are not flat like they were against Penn st and half of Mich st. Penn st is a great team and well Florida st does not even belong there. Georga cause of shockley.

Rose Bowl: Texas versus USC -- I'm going with Tejas as much as this pains me being a Kansas fan... but they are just so good and USC has never faced a team with the speed and talent that Tejas has!

Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State versus Notre Dame -- OSU is bruising team, and they are good, there only loses are to Tejas and Penn St, not too shabby! I'll take OSU in a close/fun game!

Orange Bowl: Penn State versus Florida State -- Whoa! What a great game for coaching legends, this is just Joe Pa's year, I'm going with Penn St. by at least one touchdown.

Sugar Bowl: Georgia versus West Virginia -- eh? I could care less, but let's believe the Dawgs win over LSU was for real and pick em by at least two touchdowns!

Ft worth Bowl: Kansas / Houstin -- The fat man will pull out a W for KU and maybe he'll gain another twenty pounds in the process!

Florida State pulls it out - It will be close, low scoring, But the 'noles play best when underdogs, they have the talent and will have the fire. Penn State is going to underestimate a 4-loss team. Damn I can't buy one. I knew that extra point would come back to bite us in the ass. I also know I should have put $200 down and took FSU and 10 1/2 points. But, I never bet on my team, its exciting enough without having to worry about the money.

Georgia real big over WVA - The big east is the big least, neither WVA, USF, or Louisville will win their bowl games. Georgia will dominate. RRRRRRRRRRRRR #$@&%*&!%!!!111!!!11!

Ummm, ND won't run away with the game at all. Tressel doesn't care if they win 3 - 0, or 30 - 29. The Bucks will win, period.

I think Texas will win in a shoot out.
Penn State will walk away with it.
Georgia will win.

As for the automatic berths in the BCS, I think those need to be thrown out the window. That's the only reason teams like Fl. St., and W. V. They should only be taking the top 8 in the BCS not any automatics, that will eliminate a lot of junky games.

everyone thinks FSU will lose the orange bowl. If the team that played florida shows up in Miami, then yes, they don't have a chance. The fact that FSU has been that inconsistent and still made it to the Orange Bowl says something about the team. But, inconsistent doesn't win games in the long run. Penn State is too disciplined to have a let down, and coached way to well to "underestimate" a team that has lost 4 games. But I'm a little biased since I went to PSU. It should be a fun game.

You're right about that. I shouldn't have said Penn State will underestimate them. Some players may have been dissapointed when they heard they were to be playing FSU. But you are right. Paterno will get them ready, he will not let the team underestimate them. I don't think they are going to come in thinking its a cake-walk, but I don't think the players on Penn State will really know what they are up against until they step out on to the field. Its one thing to study FSU films, but until PSU is on the field against them, they aren't going to know what they are made of.

Didn't number 2 in the pac 10 last year ?cal? lose the holiday bowl too?
I think I see a trend, and that would be that the pac-10 is over rated. Every time a pac-10 team plays any decent defense they lose. The only reason oregon was rated so high was to help boost USC in the computers. Next year USC will come back down to where the should be rated.
All those homers on espn are going to be choking on their words if USC loses to TX.

Also interesting how Arizona State had no problem putting up 31 points on LSU and its third ranked defense, yes they didn't win but they took a great defensive team to the brink. Moral of the story...it doesn't happen every time. As for your conspiracy theories, please explain how USC has won 34 straight games. Is someone drugging the opposing teams before the game? The problem is you're jealous of USC and are in denial. You're team (whoever that may be) is not as good as USC so you have to try to rationalize scenarios in which they are unworthy or unfit to be on top. These same theories have happened in the past with the Yankees and Lakers, among others, where people have started claiming some conspiracy is the reason they were champions.

Back to the game at hand. Do I think USC will win? Yes. But Texas is a great team and it will be tough.

I don't think there is some conspiracy to keep USC #1. In fact, since they haven't lost in 34 games, they deserve the #1 ranking until they lose. I'm not jealous of USC, and really I hold nothing against them. But what makes me want to puke is ESPN giving USC daily handjobs underneath the SportsCenter desk. The media homers go on and on about how USC is the best team ever, could beat any team at any time in the last 200 years. Palease! The fact is, USC doesn't play in a defensive conference. Everyone knows USC (as with most of the Pac10) can put up points when they want (against other pac teams). I think USC is good, maybe the best team this year, but I also think this infatuation with them is getting to be too much. I don't think they are the best team of all time. I think there are a half dozen teams since 1990 that could and would beat this USC team. I think Oregon was overrated, and maybe they were overrated because they played USC and not the other way around. But Oregon kept getting votes from the AP and Coaches, and that, inexplicably helped boost USC's rating.

As for reggie bush, I think reggie bush is a phenomenal athlete and well deserving of the Heisman trophy, and I don't get tired of watching (or hearing) about him. Than man makes a 30 minute highlight reel every week, including the off weeks.

Texas, OSU, PSU, UGA

Give USC the respect they are due. You can only play the games on the schedule. That said, the games on the schedule are pretty suspect (ND, Oregon, UCLA and ASU are good teams, but really no great teams there) . Yes USC kicked my Sooners last year, SC played outstanding and OU laid an egg. Look at the PAC-10. You don't find any one with a particularly good defense (and this year that includes USC). think this will be the downfall of USC. Their D is good, but Texas is really solid on Offense and will score a bunch of points. SC is great on O and will score some , but Texas matches up well on speed and will get some stops. I expect something similar to last years Rose Bowl.

Point taken. I agree ESPN is really hyping USC way too much before the game. Now, if SC wins, then that would be the time to do the type of stories that they've been reporting. I also think that there is no question USC will be one of the top five all-time teams if they beat Texas.

Rose Bowl: Texas... hoping for the upset.

Fiesta Bowl: ND, who were one fifty-fifty call away from beating USC, not trolling just pointing out it could have gone either way.

Orange Bowl: Penn State. FSU "only" seems to play good D, which may be good but we'll see.

Sugar Bowl: Coin flip. I have a good feeling about Georgia though.

Wow what a game! All I know is that people better watch out for FSU next year. They almost beat a team full of seniors. FSU is young.. very young and could be good if they stay away from injury next season. In my picks earlier I picked Penn State.. I never should have doubted my boys though ... they played one hell of a game.. and should have won.

What a game indeed. I am proud of my boys and probably the proudest I've ever felt after a loss. Of course I'm disappointed by the outcome, FSU was in position to win the game several times. Sometimes things just don't go your way and there is nothing you can do about it. Wait until these freshman grow a little and the O-line gets revamped. Then watch out.

One thing that impressed me as much as Florida States defensive effort was the speed of Penn States LBs and DBs. Those boys are as fast and athletic as anyone in the NCAA. Congratulations to Penn State and Joe Pa. That was one for the ages.

Now I have to wait almost NINE months!!! Time for basketball.

I admit I thought it was weird seeing such a leaning toward Texas in this thread, but I will give credit where credit is due and say you guys made the right choice. What a game.

As to whether USC is a top 5 all-time team, I will keep my word and defer to people like stevo and say no way. They are still top 10 though, 34 straight games says it all. I'll put them right about even with the Miami teams of a couple years ago.

That USC team was incredible no doubt in 3 years time we'll all be talking about the pros to come out of that team like we do about '01 Miami, but for one single season I'd take Miami.

But anyway I'm .500 in my bowl picks, would have been .750 but you guys convinced me to pick Georgia over WVU.

FSU/Penn State was also very good, not as good as the Rose Bowl though. Anyone else think FSU might make some noise next year? They have a very very very talented bunch of players.

I predict Ohio State v Florida State in the MNC next year. I think OSU comes out pre-season #1. After seeing how they handled the irish, they are a lot better than I gave them credit for. And if things come together for florida state, they could go undefeated (have you seen their schedule - 8 home games).

But the game last night was awesome. I was expecting the whole game to be like the first half, but the scoring picked up in the second half and it was exciting. What a game. I'd say its pretty much guarunteed that V Young will enter the draft. After watching that game I say he goes #1 and Bush goes #2. What a great couple of bowl games. I did pretty good against the spread, too bad it didn't pay off. I don't think I could handle college football if I had money on it. My bp rises through the roof during just about any game, if I had my paycheck riding on it I'd probably suffer a stroke.

Sorry. Just had to do that. As an Ohio U grad, I always get excited when people talk about Ohio instead of Ohio State.

Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State versus Notre Dame -- OSU is bruising team, and they are good, there only loses are to Tejas and Penn St, not too shabby! I'll take OSU in a close/fun game! Orange Bowl: Penn State versus Florida State -- Whoa! What a great game for coaching legends, this is just Joe Pa's year, I'm going with Penn St. by at least one touchdown. Sugar Bowl: Georgia versus West Virginia -- eh? I could care less, but let's believe the Dawgs win over LSU was for real and pick em by at least two touchdowns! Penn State is going to underestimate a 4-loss team. Damn I can't buy one. I knew that extra point would come back to bite us in the ass. I also know I should have put $200 down and took FSU and 10 1/2 points. But, I never bet on my team, its exciting enough without having to worry about the money. Georgia real big over WVA - The big east is the big least, neither WVA, USF, or Louisville will win their bowl games. Georgia will dominate. absorbentishe Boy am I horny today Location: T O L E D O, Toledo!!	Ummm, ND won't run away with the game at all. Tressel doesn't care if they win 3 - 0, or 30 - 29. The Bucks will win, period. I think Texas will win in a shoot out. Penn State will walk away with it. Georgia will win. As for the automatic berths in the BCS, I think those need to be thrown out the window. That's the only reason teams like Fl. St., and W. V. They should only be taking the top 8 in the BCS not any automatics, that will eliminate a lot of junky games.

Beefimator Tilted Location: Philly 'Burbs	The fact that FSU has been that inconsistent and still made it to the Orange Bowl says something about the team. But, inconsistent doesn't win games in the long run. Penn State is too disciplined to have a let down, and coached way to well to "underestimate" a team that has lost 4 games. But I'm a little biased since I went to PSU. It should be a fun game.

I think I see a trend, and that would be that the pac-10 is over rated. Every time a pac-10 team plays any decent defense they lose. The only reason oregon was rated so high was to help boost USC in the computers. Next year USC will come back down to where the should be rated. cementor Crazy Location: Denver	Texas, OSU, PSU, UGA Give USC the respect they are due. You can only play the games on the schedule. That said, the games on the schedule are pretty suspect (ND, Oregon, UCLA and ASU are good teams, but really no great teams there) . Yes USC kicked my Sooners last year, SC played outstanding and OU laid an egg. Look at the PAC-10. You don't find any one with a particularly good defense (and this year that includes USC). think this will be the downfall of USC. Their D is good, but Texas is really solid on Offense and will score a bunch of points. SC is great on O and will score some , but Texas matches up well on speed and will get some stops. Fiesta Bowl: ND, who were one fifty-fifty call away from beating USC, not trolling just pointing out it could have gone either way. Orange Bowl: Penn State. FSU "only" seems to play good D, which may be good but we'll see. Sugar Bowl: Coin flip. I have a good feeling about Georgia though. __________________ I can read your mind... looking at you... FSU is young.. very young and could be good if they stay away from injury next season. In my picks earlier I picked Penn State.. I never should have doubted my boys though ... they played one hell of a game.. and should have won.

What a game. As to whether USC is a top 5 all-time team, I will keep my word and defer to people like stevo and say no way. They are still top 10 though, 34 straight games says it all. Spartak Bang bang Location: New Zealand	That USC team was incredible no doubt in 3 years time we'll all be talking about the pros to come out of that team like we do about '01 Miami, but for one single season I'd take Miami. But anyway I'm .500 in my bowl picks, would have been .750 but you guys convinced me to pick Georgia over WVU. FSU/Penn State was also very good, not as good as the Rose Bowl though.
