Was Notre Dame Robbed?
Just curious for opinions on the last 2 plays of the epic battle against USC last Saturday. I think the ball should have been placed at the 1.5 yd line instead of the 1 foot line, but I don't have a huge problem with the "Bush Push" not being called on the QB sneak touchdown. Another thing, that has not been talked about nearly as much, is the huge facemask Leinart applies to Irish linebacker Brandon Hoyte (after Hoyte knocked out the ball and was trying to reach for it). The ref was staring right at it and didn't throw the flag. One thing is for sure, there are going to be some FIERCE games between these two teams in the years to come...

Um, well the ball should have been placed on the 3 actually. There were missed calls (by the refs) on both sides of the ball. Therefore, they were not robbed.
Now if Leinart wouldn't have scored, this thread would be "Was USC robbed?" |

The ball actually WAS moved back from six-inches or so to about a yard. I think that was the right spot.
I don't think Notre Dame got robbed in the game. They got robbed in the B[C]S.

It is kind of messed up that the number nine team would play the number one team to a standstill until the final seconds, barely lose, and the number one team would stay number one, but the nine team would fall seven spots, eh?

I'm going to preface this so I don't sound like a homer. I live in detroit, I'm a lifelong michigan and bigten fan. with that being said.
Notre Dame wasn't robbed. As has already been said Notre Dame blew the game when they blew a 4th and 9. The bigger story in this game was the proof that USC will not be touched all season long. They are ridiculously good. I've only caught a few games because I work and they don't usually show USC games here in michigan but what i've seen between actual live games and on sportcenter combined with this win at Notre Dame proves to me that not only do they have the two best players in all of college football, they'll also be the first team to win back-to-back-to-back national championships. They pummel teams and watching them leaves me in awe of excellence.

USC's team is amazing. These guys (used to school with them), or at least the ones I knew, are *dedicated* like mad. And they'd better be...a portion of my 40k per year there went to them! Fight on!
BTW: I will admit that it was a frighteningly close game, and the BCS system sucks. |

i do think USC is a little shakier this year. too bad they don't play Va Tech again during the season. then again, regular Pac10 teams may have a better chance of beating them then other high powered teams. hopefully that won't be UCLA. that would be terrible.
just to clarify, ND is still ranked nine in the AP poll, but their BCS standing is 16...implying they make a great team fot the Axe Body Spray Bowl |

I think we can at least all agree that Reggie Bush is from another planet, simply amazing to watch. For those of you that weren't aware he was down to ND and Southern Cal as his final two choices, and picked Southern Cal after they smoked ND a couple years back (when he was at the game). If Southern Cal doesn't have him that game is ND's by at least 14; I can hardly wait to watch this guy dominate in the NFL also. And by the way, if he didn't earn the Heisman in a landslide on Saturday then there is something really wrong. Young and Leinart should now be a distant 2nd and 3rd...

As a huge Notre Dame fan, the game was amazing. I think the real robbery is the BCS system. How is ND ranked 25 in the computer bowls, thats a ton of garbage. So WVU is ranked higher than us, ND would put up 50 easy on WVU. I am not saying nd is a preimere team, they are not yet but they should be at least ranked a head of WVU and PSU( who by the way has won 1 big game and have the easiest scheadule in college football). Did anyone else see Bush shove Matty into the endzone on the last play. But then what PAC-10 offical is going to throw that flag and cost USC a national championship.
/not at Notre dame due to the fact i cannot spell, due to that fact one gets no finacial aid money

The BCS is a joke and must go, but thankfully the Irish are pretty much guaranteed a BCS berth if they win out (need 9 wins and top 12 in BCS rankings), which should be easily attainable with the exception of Tennessee on November 5th (of which they will have 2 weeks to prepare). While most other teams are just now getting into the meat of their schedule and will start playing tougher teams and one another (which obviously equals losses), ND is in a great spot to do nothing but slowly creep up a spot or two in the BCS week by week if they can stay focused. In the end they may just end up in the exact same BCS game they would have if the USC game went the other way (since they already had the MSU loss). Hopefully in a couple years we will be talking about the 4 teams poised to get in a playoff, and all of this BCS bullshit will be out the window...

are u kidding the pac 2!, the sec is always overblown and overhyped, just because people in the south having nothing better to do than watch college football does not mean that they are superior teams. The acc is pretty tuff this year with va tech and florida st and miami being pretty good as well but lets not get ahead of ourselves here the best college football conference from top to bottom is the big 10 (or 11 cause it has 1 teams), and on a side note besides texas the big 12 is so bad its embarassing

the pac 10 may not be the best conference, but usc has beaten "good" teams from other conferences in their first 2 title seasons. auburn, va tech twice, michigan, oklahoma...pac 10 teams put up more of a fight against usc than some of these nonconference elite. if it wasn't for the genius BCS, we would have seen games with LSU and auburn (again) as well.

Notre dame is now being robbed, look at the bcs. How are Michigan, Northwestern, Minnesota, TCU, Colorado, West Virgina all ranked ahead of Notre Dame in the computer polls. I would bet a lot of money on Notre Dame beating all of those teams, we have already beat Michigan, and Northwestern lacks the defense to stop heismen candidate Brady Quinn, who will own all Notre Dame records when he graduates. I still don't believe we are have a national championship team but we are better than those teams and better than 15th.
