Only if he ties with Nick Swisher, since their stats are almost identical (Swisher has a 60 point lower batting average, but an identical OPS due to Cano's 40 fewer walks and 40 more hits).
Cano Swisher I would put forth Gustavo Chacin (P, Toronto) and Joe Blanton (P, Oakland) as pitchers and Chris Shelton (1B, Detroit) and Jonny Gomes (OF, Tampa Bay) as hitters in the AL. In the NL I would go with pitcher Robinson Tejeda (P, Philadelphia), and hitters Willy Taveras (CF, Houston), Ryan Howard (1B, Philadelphia), and of course, Jeff Francour (OF, Atlanta). Unfortunately, Cano has the New York hype machine behind him, so he'll win.

AL: Huston Street - OAK (1.36 ERA and 21 saves for a playoff bound team)
NL: Willy Taveras - HOU (33 steals, 72 runs scored, 3 errors, 9 outfield assists) As far as, Cano, have you seen him in the field? Only Rickie Weeks and Alfonso Soriano having worst field percentages for qualified second basemen. |

Forgot about Street and Duke; both good choices, especially Street.

If the Phils make the WC then I think Howard will win it, if Houston, perhaps Taveras. How many infield hits does he have? They're both absolutely amazing. |

AL: Huston Street, RP, Oakland Athletics - 97 points
Robinson Cano (New York) - 57, Jonny Gomes (Tampa Bay) - 39, Tadahito Iguchi (Chicago) - 30, Gustavo Chacin (Toronto) - 14. NL: Ryan Howard, 1B, Philadelphia Phillies - 109 Willy Taveras (Houston) - 78, Jeff Francouer (Atlanta) - 60, Garrett Atkins (Colorado) - 17, Zach Duke (Pittsburgh) - 16. Thank all that is good and holy Cano didn't win.

street was the deserving winner for the AL he had such a great season on a very young pitching staff and a team that stuggled massively in the first half of the season
he was a huge part of the A's huge run at the playoffs this year, he might end up being a top 5 closer

The only thing Franceour had on Howard was 12 points in batting average. Howard's OPS was 40 points higher. Howard also fielded his position better than Franceour did. All in all the writers did a great job in both leagues. |
