If you had a college football team, Major League Baseball team and an NFL team (maybe throw in an NBA and NHL if you follow them)........ what 1 coach/manager would you want heading each team.

In other words who, in your opinion, was or is the best of all time? Which can inspire the players to go out play their hardest and win year after year?

My choices:

College Football
Ohio State Buckeye WOODY HAYES...... Yeah, Bear Bryant may have had a better record but he didn't coach a Big Ten school that played powerhouses like Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and so on year after year. Nor did Bear (I maybe wrong) ever have an undefeated season like Woody or coach a 2 time Heisman trophy winner like Woody. Woody had problems with the school trustees and OSU upper echelons who did not want him to win, and had he not had these handicaps, he would have won so much more.

And loook at all the assistants that led great programs after him.

Major League Baseball

Wow so many to choose from, Connie Mack, Miller Huggins, Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, and so on...... But there can only be one Duncan...... and so I choose after long thinking...... George "Sparky" Anderson....... and unlike Torre, he didn't have an owner go out and buy him a team.... he built that team up, and got 2 rings a few division titles, and a couple of NL titles.

The true power behind the Big Red Machine, the man who could get the best out of every single player. Who inspired his players to have a true work ethic and to get along on the field, even if they hated each other (ahem... Bench and Rose).

The man who could take the Tigers to the Series, the first and I believe only manager to have a World Series winner from both the AL and NL.

You can say well.... he just had talent..... wrong so did Mike Hargrove in Cleveland and he didn't come close to Sparky. Nor did the AL have the competition the Reds had ..... the Reds had the Pirates, Dodgers, Cardinals, all powerhouse teams and yet year after year after year Sparky took his team to #1.

NFL

Again so many greats........ but my choice would be Madden. 10 years coaching second best win percentage, 2 super bowls, knew the game like no other...... and all this was started at age 32? Imagine how great he would have been had he stayed in and not turned to the broadcasting booth.
