Walker to the Heat!

This just came across the "wire" yo!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2122976

This makes Miami absolutley unbeleivable deep. Incredible in the half court, and Wade/Walker and Shaq on the floor? Un-fuggin-stoppable. Jason Williams, Miami with a real point guard? It doesn't make any difference, Miami cannot be touched.

One thing we all know, Shaq isn't about Shaq in Miami, Walker and Wade will get the shots they want. This is an amazing deal for Miami.

i see this as possibly a bad thing. walker has to shoot the ball....a lot! if he doesn't do that, he's not happy. these shots are going to come at the expense of wade, who i believe is a superstar in the making. is this a smart move by miami or do they know something about walker that i don't? i know while he was in dallas he was a shooting machine, they just weren't always going in. hopefully it works out, but i'm not sure this is a good thing for wade.

All true, this may get ugly with 3 or four players all wanting more "ball". Shaq already complained about not getting the ball enough. Van Gundy has Pat Reily waiting in the wings if he fucks up too, so...no pressure...

Walker sucks and so does Williams. It wouldnt have mattered if it was Hoiberg and such and such. As long Shaq and Wade are healthy, the rest of the team only needs to run and pass, and score some points here and there.

that's true, but walker isn't exactly a run and pass guy. he's a stand around the 3 point line and wait for someone to throw him the ball so he can shoot kind of guy. that is where i see a problem arising.

as long as shaq stays healthy the miami heat will always be a dominate team, having walker is just a bonus.

Miami took on contracts, and can afford to because Shaq took a paycut (will now earn $20 million a year, where areas a max contract for him could have been above $30 million per year), Wade is still in his rookie contract, and losing Eddie Jones was going to make about $15 million this coming year. Williams has had an excellent assist to turnover ratio the last couple years, which is especially crucial when you have two star players who shoot high percentages. I like Posey's game, he plays very good defense and does multiple things well.

Walker sucks...
That's bullshit.

Walker scores and rebounds well too. He can handle the ball as a point-power forward and has passing ability. The main argument against Walker is that he shoots too much, or "jacks up" shots. He has shot a lot in his career, but most of that was under Jim O'Brien who had an offense built around the three point shot. In the year that Walker attempted the most three point shots in a single season for his career, the Celtics made the playoffs for the first time since 1995 and made it within two games of the NBA Finals. In addition, he was one of only four players in the league (Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett) to average at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists that season.

Over his career (minus the year in Dallas) Walker has averaged 19.24 shots per game. That year in Dallas though (he was traded and accepted a lesser role in the offense) he averaged 13.77 shots per game. Nearly 6 less shots per game.

Walker turns the ball over a lot and shoots a low percentage from the field for a power forward, but to say the former all star sucks is ignorance. Career averages of 19, 9, and 3 aren’t found on the end of the bench.

Yea walker is a great player. the only problem i can see is him not getting along with the other players. because he has a history of that. But besides that, he is a great addition.

I believe that Walker has a lot to prove about being a good TEAMMATE. Those years of playing second fiddle to Paul Pierce have tarnished his image, despite his nice career stats. He's percieved as being a whiner and moody, failing to give consistant effort. He needs to go into Miami and accept being a role player. He has to help Shaq inside, and step outside only occasionally to deliver a dagger. I wish no ill on anyone, but I don't see him keeping a good mind-set through an entire season in that role.
