Tiger Woods is done!
The longest consecutive cut streak in PGA history is over, as Tiger misses the cut at the Byron Nelson. On the Friday the 13th to boot!
|
He only missed by a stroke, I'm sure he is recapping his day thinking about various shots that could have prevented a mistake or resulted in an opportunity. I think I heard that the top 5 ranked players were playing this event, so it's unfortunate for fans who hoped to see them all compete this weekend.
Impressive streak though, an excellent measure of consistency. |
i read somewhere that of his 140 something continuous cut making streak, around 40 of them were in tournaments with no cut. How can this be considered a real streak if approximately 20% of the tournaments that he played in were tournaments that everybody made it to sunday? he is an amazing golfer, but it seems to me that this record of his shouldn't be accepted. any thoughts?

140 straight cuts made demolished the old record of 120 or so. 31 events that Tiger played in did not have a cut. He didn't miss a cut in something like 7 years. Think about that. The longest active cuts made streak is Ernie Els, who is an awesome golfer, with 20.
Tiger's record will most likely never be broken, excpet maybe by Tiger himself. |

I agree, it's tough to figure out exactly how good the streak was when each year he was in the Tour Championship, Mercedes Championship and World Match Play - all events without cuts. Nevertheless, it's still an amazing accomplishment. |

LOL. The guy's a golf god and will go down as the best golfer in history. End of story. |

Tiger's not done...he's just taking a break and spending some quality time with a great looking woman and enjoying that a little bit more than the JAWLF he's been playing up until this point :D
