Warner leaving the Giants after the season ends

http://msn.foxsports.com/story/3282746

I really can't blame him. I'd be pretty pissed if I had act as a back-up for a rookie QB (I know he's Peyton Manning's brother but) who hasn't won a game yet. As for his choices of Miami, Dallas, and Chicago, I'd say he'd be better off going to either Miami or Dallas to start. Chicago already has another guy signed up to start, so Warner would have another bench job there. But he could really help out Miami, who's been struggling all year and could really use a good quarterback. Dallas wouldn't be a bad choice either considering they could also use a good quarterback and Bill Parcell is a decent coach as well.

Your thoughts?

I think Warner was very professional about the whole situation this year. It is fair that he can opt out after reaching certain requirements, but I bet the Giants would have liked to have him as a backup. He played decent this year, but it’s not like he was playing with a horrible offense. Tiki was playing great early in the season. I do not blame Giants management for starting Eli despite the opportunity to make the playoffs in the NFC; I think it was a good decision for the future of their ball club.

Maybe Miami would bring him in to compete, but they invested in Feeley. I don't know Fiedler's contract situation, and if he stays, that’s just a bunch of average QB's. Who knows, maybe Saban goes QB in the draft.

I don't even know what Dallas wants, more specifically Parcells. He has a couple young QB's who may develop on the roster, why go to another player who is reaching the age when most QB's start to lose it.

I would not be surprised if he was told he can compete for a starting job, but ends up as a backup again (barring any injuries).

Warner is absolutely an excellent QB, and his replacement with Manning is what likely cost the Giants their season, but at the same time, the Giants must use Manning, after all, he is their future.

I was actually hoping Warner would come down to Oakland rather than Collins, but unfortunately that did not happen, who knows how different our season could have been had Warner been the starter (considering Gannon is injured).

Like Cross-Over said, Warner has been extremely professional about his situation in NY, and he has earned respect and deserves a starting position. Unfortunately the fact that he is injury prone is going to make it tough for him to find a home that he can rely on.

Of the three choices, I would say Miami would be the best bet for him. I wish him luck and hope he finds a position to suit his needs.

Maybe the Bears will pick him up and add to their QB woes. Quite possible with our management.

But most importantly, what does his wife have to say about this?

LMAO! So true though.

Warner is good enough to start for 1/3 of the teams in the NFL in my opinion. But my tip is for him to wind up in New Orleans.

Has anyone considered Seattle? Hassleback, Alexander and Walter Jones are all free agents and it is unlikely they will be able to keep all three. I agree with Strange_Famous, in the right system, Warner could tear up the league any day.

as a fellow raiders fan, i agree. perhaps collins will be able to get it done (great arm, poor decision making).

new orleans would be an interesting place. not sure where aaron brooks sits... joe horn's leading the league in receiving yards, which of course is a result of brooks' passing him the ball. brooks is one of those guys who can wow you, and then can wow you, lol. sometimes it's a "wow, that's a great throw" and others it's "wow, how the hell is he a starter". with that said, i'm not sure it's the right situation for him.

miami seems like a good choice, given the lack of wins as a team, and a lack of consistency from the qbs. i think it's quite apparent that the dolphins paid way too much for feeley's services.

im a miami fan, and im not quite sure i want him. but im not sure i dont, either. hes an aging QB who had his glory days, but lets face it, has been wonderfully mediocre since bulger replaced him as the starter in the superbowl rams. Hes like a mark brunnel in my opinoin...a tested veteran indeed, but not the type of person you want to build your team around. id rather invest in someone young with potential (but im not saying thats AJ feeley either.)

Jesus Malverde 01-03-2005 12:38 AM

I wouldn't mind having him in Dallas, but he holds the ball longer than Vinny. He would get sacked at least 60 times.

I would like to see Warner on the Bears. With Grossman injury prone, we need a proven starter. And im more of a proven starter then Quinn.
