Week #13

Late games are complete. Not as good as past couple of weeks, but we have two players tied with 11 wins. djtestudo and bond007 are tied with 11 wins. One of them will win this week. Both have picked Pittsburgh tonight, but they have split on Monday night's game. Even if Jacksonvile wins tonight, no one will catch either of them. So If Dallas wins on Monday night, djetestudo will win this week. If Seattle wins, bond007 will win. Will we have the points leader finally win a week, or will we have the first two time winner this season? Good luck guys.

BonesCPA 12-05-2004 05:51 PM

Congratulations heccubsiv! You are the biggest loser!

With Crewsor picking the Bengals to lose this week, heccubsiv has proven he can't pick a winner to save his life. heccubsiv has won the loser pool by picking (starting with week 6 of the regular season): San Francisco, Cleveland, New England, Philadelphia, Dallas, Cincinnati, Washington and Miami.

Well done.

With the loser pool being decided, we are now just left with the regular football pool for the rest of the season. I hope all that participated in the suicide and loser pools had fun. Next year, same bat time, same bat channel.

Edit: I had the picks backwards on my system. Sorry for the confusion.

crewsor 12-05-2004 07:29 PM

Thanks Bones, but unfortunately you have it backwards. Congrats to Heccubsiv. And thanks to Bones for all your hard work. What a lousy day to be a Ravens fan. Not only did they lose, but they also killed me in the loser pool.

bundy 12-05-2004 11:32 PM

congrats hecc!!!

and Crewsor!!!

and thanks to BonesCPA, you do such a great job!

did i get that wrong or what??

Ace_O_Spades 12-05-2004 11:50 PM

God, the packers got pwned

:(

BonesCPA 12-06-2004 07:02 AM

Interesting note on our Grand Loser: heccubsiv really can't pick a winner - he lost in the first week of the suicide pool. Since heccubsiv hasn't participated in the regular weekly pool this season, he has not picked a single winner the entire season. That's consistency!

What another strange week in the NFL. When you think things couldn't get starnger, they do.

seeing as I'm a Cowboys fan... I feel so conflicted!

NFL officiating is god damned pathetic. I wonder how much the Cheets payed them off in this game :|

What does it matter? The Raiders and the Chiefs have been done for weeks. Did you have money on the game or something? Just cheer for the Patriots and enjoy the ride.

Rdr4evr 12-06-2004 10:27 AM

It's not a money issue, its a issue that the game would have been ours had the officiating been done properly. I couldn’t care less about money; I'd rather have a super bowl victory. The Raiders are screwed left and right with bad calls. Most of the time I don't complain about it because I believe a team should be good enough not to have to worry about bad calls deciding the game, but in this case it was just down right ridiculous.

And besides, we still had Wild Card hope ;)...

As for cheering the Patsies who cheated their way to the superbowl when we should have ended up there instead...no thanks...I despise them (tuck rule? Please), besides, Steelers are going to the Super bowl.

How did I know you were gonna bring up the tuck rule? Cheating would involve taking steroids or another performance enhancing substance like THG, which I'm sure Barrett Robbins never did during the Raiders' failed attempt at the Superbowl that year.

Any who, the Raiders will never get anywhere with Collins or Gannon at QB. Things need to change big time with Oakland (coaching staff, etc.), if they are gonna win anytime soon.

Rdr4evr 12-06-2004 11:19 AM

We already revamped the entire coaching staff and defense.... the problem right now is Davis. He built this team, but at the same time, he is holding us back...It's time for new ownership.

As for the QB situation, as much as I dislike Collins, he has actually stepped up and been a leader the past few weeks. I could only hope we will get Gannon back, I miss him terribly, but with a broken vertebrae, it will be too risky to bring him back. He was a true Raider and without him we wouldn't have been successful between '00 and '03...so I don't know what you mean when you say with Gannon we won't get anywhere

"Anywhere" = Superbowl Win. He's just too old and too banged-up. The Raiders were a good team during those years ('00-'03) but they weren't a championship team.

Rdr4evr 12-06-2004 01:53 PM

Gannon may be getting old now, but he certainly was in his prime during those seasons, and we were definitely a championship team, but I will tell you why we failed to achieve SB victories in those years.

In 2000 we came up short in the championship game because idiot Saragosa blatantly belly flopped on Gannon damaging his shoulder that resulted in Gannon leaving the game, which in turn caused a loss.

In 2001 we all know about the tuck rule non-sense. Absolutely 100% grade-A bullshit.

In 2002 we went to the Superbowl but lost to possibly one of the greatest defenses of all time, and to top it off, we were playing with our former coach who basically set our team up in those years and knew everything we were going to do. It is not an easy feat to get to the Superbowl in the AFC. It is an incredibly strong conference and anyone who makes it that far is definitely a strong contender.

What Grudung brought to our team was discipline, which is why we were a strong team, but Davis doesn’t believe in discipline, which is why we are miserable now. In order to succeed, these guys need to be disciplined, and until Davis realizes that, we will not move forward. (Our crap draft pick-ups and horrible scouting don’t help either)

The only problems plaguing Gannon are injuries, which is another reflection of age but if he is healthy, you and I both know he is a championship qb.

djtestudo 12-06-2004 09:33 PM

Holy crap I actually won.

Was WAY under on the points, though :D

Rdr4evr 12-06-2004 09:52 PM

On the week the Ravens lose a heart breaker ;).....Congrats.

Everyone else in the pool hopes that is slows down your accuracy in the future weeks. :D

bond007 12-07-2004 07:35 AM

wow, what a wild & wacky ballgame last night! it was amazing how the teams seemed to take turns dominating the game.

a brief recap for those that missed it:
1st qtr -- Seahawks making it look easy, lead 14-3.
2nd & 3rd qtr -- who are these guys? Julius Jones looks fantastic, Cowboys explode for 26 straight points.
most of 4th qtr -- Hasselbeck gets hot, Vinny (Intercept-averde) reverts to form, Seahawks score 22 points in a 7 minute span, and lead 39-29.
final 2 minutes -- Vinny throws up a prayer, Keyshawn answers it. then a perfectly executed on-side kick by Dallas. Jones again looks fantastic, Cowboys score again, and win 43-39.

btw: Hasselbeck's hail mary pass on the final play of the game bounced off at least three players... including his WR's face mask... before falling incomplete!

heccubusiv 12-07-2004 09:39 AM

thank you Bones for your work in the pool, since i cannot pick a winner in pro football, thats why i stick to college for gambling and i am up 75 dollars this semester
