TFP Football Pool Week #12 (Closes early)
Week # 12 - Turkey and football. So there you are, sitting in front of the TV after catching the first game of the day. The cook has aimed to have the turkey done at the end of the game so you will probably only miss a little bit of the late game. Dinner conversation is good - someone always asks why Dallas and Detroit always play on Thanksgiving. You are finishing up your dessert as everyone takes turns going to the “bathroom” and comes back with updates of the start of the late game. Finally you can leave the table so you can catch the rest of the late game. First half was pretty solid and you can’t wait for the second half. Then it happens. Somewhere just after the halftime entertainment and the kickoff to start the third quarter you fall asleep, just after your father did and everyone chuckled how he was the first to go. The best play of the game could happen in the first three minutes of game time in the third quarter, and 90% of the viewers will miss it. Damn turkey, always puts me to sleep - of course the multiple alcoholic drinks and the fifteen pounds of other food eaten so far that day probably helped the process along. Thanksgiving in the good old USA. Good times.
If you haven’t been paying attention, Thursday is the first game. We have less than 48 hours to get our picks in on time. The thread will be locked before the first game which starts promptly on Thursday at 12:37pm (EST). If you don’t pick by then, you will miss the entire week. Pick now! TFP Football Pool rules: 1. Pick one team from each game to win the game. If they win, you get one point. Ties count as a loss. The most points win. (Points spreads are not included, so therefore they do not matter. “Just win, Baby” - Al Davis) 2. After all games are picked, give a point total for the total points scored in the Monday night football game. This is used as a tie breaker. The closest, without going over will break the tie. If all tied go over, the closest wins. 3. Have your picks in before the first kickoff. The thread will be closed at some point after midnight EST the night before the first game. (Thank you Spectre.) Don't be late - PM's after the thread is closed will not count. For convenience purposes please only list the winning team name. You should copy and delete from the schedule provided. PLEASE KEEP THE GAMES/TEAMS IN THE ORDER THEY ARE LISTED BELOW! Thank you, and good luck. Week #12 Team (2004 record, 2004 road/home record) Thursday November 25, 2004 Indianapolis (7-3, 3-2 road) Detroit (4-6, 1-3 home) Chicago (4-6, 3-2 road) Dallas (3-7, 2-3 home) Sunday November 28, 2004 Baltimore (7-3, 3-2 road) New England (9-1, 5-0 home) Jacksonville (6-4, 3-2 road) Minnesota (6-4, 4-1 home) San Diego (7-3, 3-2 road) Kansas City (3-7, 2-3 home) Tennessee (4-6, 3-2 road) Houston (4-6, 2-3 home) Cleveland (3-7, 0-4 road) Cincinnati (4-6, 3-2 home) Philadelphia (9-1, 4-1 road) NY Giants (5-5, 2-3 home) Tampa Bay (4-6, 1-4 road) Carolina (3-7, 1-4 home) Washington (3-7, 2-3 road) Pittsburgh (9-1, 5-0 home) New Orleans (4-6, 2-2 road) Atlanta (8-2, 4-1 home) Buffalo (4-6, 0-4 road) Seattle (6-4, 3-1 home) Miami (1-9, 0-5 road) San Francisco (1-9, 1-4 home) NY Jets (7-3, 3-2 road) Arizona (4-6, 3-1 home) Oakland (3-7, 1-4 road) Denver (7-3, 4-1 home) Monday November 26, 2004 St. Louis (5-5, 2-3 road) Green Bay (6-4, 2-3 home) This week’s prize: Leftovers. I enjoyed the commentary in the opening post. It is indeed a part of our culture, turkey and football on Thanksgiving. Happy turkey day to all.
