My money is on the Jets. Personally I think the patsies are an over rated and extremely lucky team. How many games have they won by a last second field goal? I will give them credit though in the fact that they play and work as a team...something I can't say about my team. This is why they win, they don't have any all star players, they just have good chemistry.

P.S I hate Brady.

The line is 6.5 in favor of the Patriots, which I think is high. Nonetheless, I'm expecting a Patriots win.

Who do you will think will have a better running day, Curtis Martin or Corey Dillon? That should be interesting to watch.

I apologize for the way I phrased my post. I wasn't trying to insult anyone; only stir up some contraversy before the game. If I offended you, I am sorry. I admit I'm jealous of both teams records, and only wish it were the same for my team. I will be more thoughtful in my posts from now on.

I agree 100% with everything you said.... they win because they always play hard and they play in the parity era. The 90's Cowboys, 80's 49ers, 70's steelers, etc.. would all blow them away (not just my opinion; steve young et al expressed the same on a pregame show).

I think the Jets have a good shot to upset them - they are coming in on a roll, and have the motivation of being the underdogs to motivate them. Plus, the Pats D-line isn't real strong this year, aside from Seymour, and Curtis Martin is playing amazing football so far... I look for the Jets to control the ball, control the clock, limit mistakes, and beat the patriots at their own game. Penington is a good QB for a game like this - accurate and few INTs for the opportunistic NE defense....

PS - I'm still disappointed Jenkins didn't smash Brady in last year's superbowl

Hindsight being 20/20 and all, but the Pats are a complete football team. They avoid mistakes, they play solid on both sides of the ball, and they just win. If 21 in a row isn't enough, how about beating two true contenders in back to back weeks? How about beating Indy? How about winning a Super Bowl?

Again in retrospect, aren't the Jets just a watered down version of NE? Good QBs just coming into their prime, with a veteran backs? Both of them have that, but the Jets don't match up favorably on defense.

I concede that they are complete, play balanced football, and avoid mistakes. I just don't htink they are dominant the way older dynasties were. I don't know if I'd classify the Jets as a real contender, but I was very impressed by the way they smashed the Hawks. The Indy victory seemed somewhat lucky to me - that was one of the few times I've seen manning make a mistke by just backing up and letting McGinest sack him senseless - but was a W nonetheless. I personally think that Manning will one day just smash them when he figures out what coverage Belicheck is using against him and can put his offensive genius (I think hes better than most o-coordinaters) to use. I give belicheck credit for mixing it up enough that Manning never gets a full feel for the NE D, though. I think Jacksonville could give them a good match, though, given the matchups - NE isn't great against the run and Jacksonville can run right at those LB's with Taylor and wear them down. Plus, I like Stroud et al against NE's line, though I think Brady could have success against their secondary if they give him even a little time.

The Jets don't seem that much like NE to me, because I think they have a big play threat in Santana Moss that NE doesn't have, and also because, as you mentioned, the NE D is significantly better and much more opportunistic than the Jets D.

and i dont think the quarterbacks really compare all that much either.

ok ok...brady throws short balls and screens all the time, and lets the receivers do the work, but pennington has more of a long ball....if that makes any sense

I"m completely pissed at Time Warner. I'm in NC which is on the EAST COAST. They had me on fucking West Coast coverage all day so I missed the game. Gee thanx for nothing cable company.

anyway I saw that the pats won. It wasn't that big of a surprise. The Jets had some injuries so that didn't help their cause at all. The Pats just know how to win.

MVP of the SB, not the season, big deal. Brady still sucks.

EDIT: Actually, you know what, I wont say he flat out sucks. But he is not good either, extremely over rated. If it wasn't for his line, he would throw like my man Collins :rolleyes:. He already has 43 INT's in his short career.

You know what, you're right. Being the MVP of the regular season means so much more to guys like Peyton Manning and Steve McNair than actually winning the Super Bowl that they allow Brady to beat them every year and give him the lesser award. Give me a break.

Of course the SB is the goal of all teams, but your argument was that Brady is better than Pennington because he was an SB MVP. That does not make him better in the least, sure he has two rings, but Manning, McNair and Pennington still blow him out of the water. The problems the others have or have had is not having the whole team, which Brady does. Was Johnson better than Gannon in 02 because he got the ring? No, his defense was though.

Pennington: 94.4 Quarterback Rating and a TD-INT ratio of 5-2

Brady: 85.9 and 23-12

Pennington: 82.9 and 13-12

2002

Brady: 85.7 and 28-14

Pennington: 104.2 and 22-6

So, yes, Pennington has been the better QB in one of the last three years statistically. If you want to really dulge into things, Brady also hasn't had a solid running back until this year. Chad has had Martin for all three years.

I'd take Brady and his lesser quarterback skills any day of the week over Pennington, McNair or even Peyton.

Jets couldve won it...why throw to a wideout doing a post rout...all he had to do was dump it to his right....there was another reciever doin a button hook.

I love the Penneington vs. Brady comparisons. So is this a statistical battle or is it about getting the big W. Brady seems to have quite a few more of those, same goes for Brady vs. Manning. Didn't Al Davis say; "just win baby"!!!!

If you give Manning the NE D, he would probably go 16-0 if only beacuse no other defense has a coaching staff smart enough to seriously confuse him. Manning isn't lacking in the W category either..... and he's given the Patriots a lot of very close calls. A little luck for Indy (just a few bounces here and there) and they'll beat NE. I still think its Indy going to the SB for the AFC.
