Deion Sanders out of retirement to the Ravens?

Will Deion come out of retirement to play with the Ravens this year? If he does what impact will it have on the team? Will he be effective in this much vaunted defense? What are your thoughts on this situation or should I say potential situation. I'm a Marylander so I am eagerly watching this scenario play out with HUGE hopes he does in fact come to the Ravens. I think he'll be a great fit on this team and I also think he still has enough to be a impact player in the secondary. I'm curious to see others' point of view on this topic.

I'm not OVERLY excited, but that's only because he'll be the team's nickel back and backup corner. He's not going to be Prime Time anymore, but like I read somewhere yesterday, Deion Sanders at 80% is still better then any third corner in the league.

I think he'll be a good fit, because he has always wanted to win. He is a team player, and if he gets himself into top shape, he will definitely be the best nickel back in the league.

The only downside is that he's very injury prone. He's also infamous for not being the best tackler. If he comes in on third downs, he is going to have to make the stop.

His positives far outweigh his negatives, and I'm sure the Ravens or any other team in the league wouldn't mind his services.

Since Al Harris was traded by the Eagles the best nickel corner title has been up for grabs. It would be great to see at least someone hold the title, and Deion could do that.

...Ok, ok, I don't care to see Deion come back to take the title, I just want to see Berman say "Primetime".

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

Corey Fuller, supposedly very close with Deion, says he is not coming to the Ravens. I don't know how much he has left in the tank anyway, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in Purple.

Looks like Fuller was wrong, because he's here now. Just needs to complete his physicals and then he's signing. It will be interesting to see what he's got left. I hope he kicks some ass here.

I think the entire NFL will be watching this one, as noted above an 80% PT is better than most other corners in the NFL, provided he can maintain that level of play when the time comes on a consistent basis. This would only make the best Defense in football even better....Before all the Masshole Patriots fans jump on my ass cause they think they have the best D take a general consensus in the NFL and most everyone would much rather play the Pats than Ray and the gang.

From your lips to God's ears my friend! I think Deion will be the peice that again makes our defense not only the best but an absolute monster. I thibk he'll be great. He's such a competitor and with the time off he's allowed his body/joints to regenerate again. I heard he's still running a 4.38 40. The knock on him besides the questons about his durability coming back after 3 years off is his lack of hitting on a tam that is comprised of hitters. We don't need him to hit people... Ray will do all that across the middle. What Deion will provide is a steel curtain against the likes of TO going long to break open a game. I would bet peoiple will be very surprised at how well Deion plays and how he helps to make our defense the best that ever was this season. (My wishful thinking but I'm an optimist) I think we may be SB bound this year again but if not I GUARANTEE teams won't want to face us/our defense.

This Masshole agrees that the Patriots have an above average D that is not as intimidating as the Raven D. Just as long as you agree that the Pats are the better TEAM.

I don't think anyone can argue that point preseason and since they are defending SB Champs. Very very nice squad. They are the team to beat.

Pats do have a GREAT TEAM. And yes the Cowboys stats wise were better in certain areas. The whole best D in football really is always going to bring about some sort of debate, one team will give up the fewest points, one fewest yards, one the most INT and so on and so on. I take nothing away from the Pats and the Boys for having great Defenses but a few years ago the Ravens won it all on Defense alone. Having not lost that many players (if any) when I think about it I still have to say they have THE BEST defense in football.

not too pick on the pats or anything but the way the nfl is enforcing the contact with a reciever after 5 yards i think the super bowl pats are going to have a hard time defending against a good passing. they arent going to get away with the muggings likethey did against the colts last year and im not even a colts fan... that game is the sole reason for the strict enforcement..... as far as deion goes.....hes back and i bet you will see him actually put a hit on some ppl if he gets the chance... when u play with a guy like ray lewis u better not be afraid of stickin ur helmet in a guys chest cuz if u give a week dive or grab at him ray is going to be waiting in the huddle.... i know i wouldnt want him pissed at me

Deions' first big impact play. Interception against the Skins. Came at a great time. Looks like it may turn the tide and get the Ravens a needed win.*crosses fingers*.

Technically his second of the night

Earlier on a punt return he faked a reverse with the other returner BJ Sams, and while everyone chased him Sams ran down the sideline basically uncontested for the TD.

Deions' looking great. Two picks today, one returned for a touchdown. His signing is looking better and better.

Deion's the fastest guy I've ever seen in a football uniform. Just amazing. In 1994, that interception return against the Saints for the 49ers, it looked like everyone was just standing still.

May be biased looking at the game as a Bills fan but I really don't think either of the interceptions were that good. The second one was a good catch, but the ball had no business being thrown where it was by Bledsoe. If anything it should have been thrown to the corner of the endzone. As for the other interception I got to the Bar where I watched the game late but I think if I understood correctly that it was a tipped pass. So while the signing might be showing results now I don't think that this game was a sign to a turnaround to the pro bowl PRIMETIME that we all knew from the 90's.

You are a Bills fan? Great game huh? I think two picks from a guy playing approximately 1/3 of the downs is pretty good, tipped or not, poorly thrown or not. He may not be in pro-bowl form, but I think he's a strong positive factor on a strong defense.

The first one was a screen pass tipped by our safety and Deion came flying in to grab it, so it wasn't like it was knocked to him or anything.

I think the fact that he is 37 years old (the oldest defensive player in the NFL) and, like crewsor said, only playing part of the defensive downs makes the three interceptions in two games pretty impressive.
