Nash to Suns.

I called this one, I knew he wasn't going to stick around and was going to go for the more money. What man at 30 wouldn't? Anyway, if Dallas doesn't trade for Shaq, they're screwed. Unless the huge guy they drafted somehow has a miracle season, they'll be even worse then last year.

As for the suns, obviously this was a good move. There's no way they were getting Kobe, and frankly, point guards like nash are becoming more and more rare. They're not set yet though, and still need another good player or two. No idea how much cap space they have left though.

Yeah, I like this move. The Suns now have Nash and Johnson in the backcourt with Marion and Amare up front. If they can land a descent center, they'll have a solid starting line-up, at the very least.

The Suns bench, well that's a whole different story.

i think after they offered kobe 106 million, they realize he was never gonna sign with anyone other than the lakers.. so they just said "ahh hell... what's up Nash?"

Nash is obviously a top 5 point guard in this league, and I think his ability to find the open man and hit shots is exactly what Phoenix needs. Barbaso (sp?) is young and talented, and he will still be able to get some significant minutes as a backup for the Suns.

The only question mark about the trade is the length. Nash is 30 years old, and will 35-36 when his deal runs out.

To reason with the suns:
Stockton played well in his late 30's, and Nash (great shooter and setup guy) excels in the two areas that Stockton did.

Payton's numbers through the regular season were down, but everyone one of the big 4 had a decrease in production. In defense of Payton, he shot well from the field during the season, and still racked up boards and assists. His defense was suspect, but Nash has been that way for years.

too bad for the Mavs... I was hoping they could re-sign Nash, and then trade him to the Lakers (as part of the Shaq package).

Wonder if they'll make a push for Fisher now that they don't have a point guard...

I don't understand, i didn't pay much attention to the suns last year, they had a point gaurd in maurbury, why did they trade him in the first place.

Oh well, if the spurs don't have to see nash as much, I'm happy.

They wanted to dump Marbury's and Penny's contracts and get people they wanted. So, by trading Marbury and Penny to the Knicks and getting McDyess and some other worthless players, they freed up money and now can build the team of their choosing. Time will tell if they made the right moves.

Yea Magnum, it's just pure money.

That's what drives 90% of the deals in sports. Money. 9% is ego. 1% is actual benefit for both teams.

I also think this a good signing for the Suns. The length and size of the contract may be a bit long, but Nash will be a good fit with the team. All they need now is a big man. They should be able to sign McDyess or Okur. If so, they will be back in the playoffs next year.

I live in Dallas and this is a huge blow to the team...I guess we will see if they can scrape up something for Shaq, he wanted to come to dallas, but we will probably not get him now, looks like it could be a rough season.

Devin Harris is a good investment for the Mavs, plus you guys have Stack/Dirk/Finley/Daniels/Howard, plus you are probably going to end up dealing Antoine Walker. Bottom line is the Mavs will not be in trouble next year.

Sucks for the Mavs. Maybe they'll have to play some defense now.

Nash is great on offense... but he's a big-time liability on defense. Phoenix overpaid for him.
