Coach K to the Lakers?
It's being reported on ESPN and Fox Sports that the Lakers are in serious talks with Duke's Coach K.
I just wonder what all the Laker fans think. I think he brings somthing to the table that no team in the NBA has, true, down to the bare roots, dynamic team basketball. I hope this happens, for the game of basketball in the NBA. It's too bad Kobe, Shaq and Payton won't be together for this. But, since I'm a Dukie, I truely don't want this to happen! Coach K in LA
Reports out of Los Angeles have the Lakers offering the head coaching position to Mike Krzyzewski.
With rare exceptions, college coaches don't translate into winning pro coaches. Do you think Coach K has a chance at similar success at the Staples Center???

As a Maryland fan, and avowed Dook hater, I know this will suprise some people.
I don't want him to leave. He is a villen. He is something to focus hatred for a team on. The players at Duke change every year, so you can only make fun of Mike (Skelator) Dunleavy and J.J. (Dude...this basketball is so ROUND, man!) Redick for so long. However, Coach K is the one constant. It is fun to hate him, and I would miss doing so if he left. It just wouldn't be the same hating him in LA. The next logical question here would be who would replace him? I think that they ought to try and get Jeff Capel away from VCU and back to Duke if this were to happen. Oh, and just so this post isn't so Duke-friendly, DUCK FUKE!!!!!

Why would he leave Dook? He's got it good there. The pressure in LA would be immense, and dealing with all the overpaid undermatured players in the NBA would be a huge hassle he doesn't need. There is no question who is the boss in Durham, but when Kobe (if he's not in jail or on another team) wants the ball more in LA, who's going to be the boss?
I guess the money that he is rumored to be being offered has to make a guy take a second look, no matter what kind of pain in the ass the job would be. -smarm The replacements considered if he does go would have to include: Johnny D... he's been an assistant for a long time for K., Mike Brey, and if Snyder hadn't screwed the pooch in Missouri he'd have to be on the list. I hope his big ass head takes him down the freakin' toilet. Why not? His recruits keep leaving him either early or after never showing up at all like this year.
I was always neutral about the lakers. Now I could have a reason to pay attension to the NBA: to watch this jerk fail. Guess what loser? The NBA doesn't call offensive fouls all that often so spending 90+% of your coaching time on the art of taking a charge is not going to pay off for you. I hope to see Coach Kraxk[apsdiokahsdfski on a corner with a tin cup in two years. Jerk.

I don't know, I have a feeling he won't take the job.
I'm really hoping the tradition of Duke will keep him in North Carolina, just because I don't want to see him get embarassed. The NBA hasn't treated college coaches very well in the last decade, I don't want his name on that list.

Okay, Mike, repeat after me: "Yes sir, Mr. Bryant! I do believe that we should run that play, sir!" Great! Next, try this: "That was a great pass, Kobe! What? He was supposed to pass it back instead of shoot? Sorry, Mr. Bryant! Walton! You're benched!"
Yep, I can see Coach K going far in LA!

He's done and won just about everything he can in the NCAA ranks so perhaps this daliance of wanderlust on his part is just to validate his potential worth. If he seriously considers moving to the NBA I have one name for him to remember: Jon Calapari. And JC aint no coach K if ya know what I'm talking about.

The rumors are such: Coach K declined the offer from the Lakers, which was gonna be a 5 year, 40mil deal. So, the Lakers upped the ante a bit and offered a 5% stake in team ownership. He's back to pondering.
As noted.. these are rumors.
