Congrats Pistons and Pistons fans. Better team won.

For the Lakers, the season is now a failure. That's the way it goes. I'm telling you it hurts big time. But, life goes on...time to focus all attention to baseball

As a Laker fan, Im both shocked and dismayed by the total meltdown they had in the finals. Props to the Pistons though, they earned their championship.

I've always said that defense wins championships. The Pistons proved that true yet again.

The only thing that sucked about game five was how the Pistons let the lakers get about 15 unanswered points in the last 2 minutes. It woulda been great if they had won by 28 or 30 points.
I must say though Great job PISTONS!!!!!!!!!

I will now look through the stores for my official " I jumped on the Pistons Bandwagon" T- Shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a Lakers fan, and as far as I'm concerned the Pistons did beat them by 28-30 points. The only reason the Lakers got that close is that both teams started pulling their starters at the end of the game. Larry Brown knew that he had the game won. Speaking of Larry Brown... Being a huge Tar Heel fan and Dean Smith fan, this game was bittersweet for me. It was good to see Rasheed win along with Brown and Assistant coaches Dave Hanners and John Kuester, all Heels alumni! It's a great tribute to Dean Smith, arguably the greatest coach of all time!

GO LAKERS- next year!

Shaq being humble in defeat?? What is this world coming to? I can't stand him but his stock actually went up a bit in my book with the way he handled himself during interviews after the thumping they received. I think the Lakers are done as we know them. BIG BIG changes in store next year. Hang in there Big Aristotle, I'm sure you'll be kept around.

Man,
The Lakers got spanked, plain and simple. Whenever your fav team gets spanked like that, it's somewhat natural to come up with some excuses and try to point blame elsewhere. But the fact remains the same. Right now, at this moment in time, The Pistons are better than The Lakers. By a significant margin. And that is why they were able to spank them until their buttcheeks turned red.

Blaming the refs? That never works. Not in any sport. Refs always get the blame, but they are the refs and we are not. Blaming the refs does not make The Lakers better than the Pistons.

The Lakers had no cohesive teamwork in this series.

That says more about the morons in the media than about the fact that the Pistons made the Lakers their biotches in the 2004 NBA Finals, 4-1.

May I point you here, for your reading pleasure ---> Link and Here

Well now, let see Powerclown, I think your math is off a little bit.
The Lakers have won the title 9 times as the LA Lakers, not to mention another 5 times as the Minneapolis Lakers. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and we'll just allow the 9 times the Lakers have been the world champs. Now if you subtract the 3 times that the Pissstons have been champs, that leaves six. Now, if by some stretch they win the next 6 consecutive years, that would be the year 2010. I will make one guarantee, in my lifetime, the Lakers will always have more championships than the Pisssstons.

When a team's concept of defense is leaning on the ball handler trying to ride him out of bounds as he crosses mid court, the refs are gonna call the fouls. When the idea of a double team is to run up and throw your chest into the ball handler, or grab his arm as he dribbles past you, the refs have to call the foul.

The Pistons didn't play Haq-a-Shaq, and that is where the majority of the Lakers foul advantage has come from for the past several years. The Lakers may have played hard through the playoffs, but they definitely were coasting on their reputations in the finals. They should be ashamed of their play, and their whining.

(Derek Fisher was great on TV post-game. He impressed me with his comments and composure. Very classy)

Could you elaborate on this myth? You mean the myth that the Lakers are the most popular and celebrated team in the NBA (which is fact)? You mean the myth that this particular Lakers team was destined to win the title (which of course is not true)? If you are saying that the Lakers losing this finals series shatters the whole Laker legacy then that's not true either.

Also, this is another shot at the supposed selfishness of the Lakers, a team that was 4th in the league in assists per game.

Yes, it's hard to get assists when you give the ball to shaq, who throws his opponent out of the way and sets the ball in the hoop! Also remember, the more you score, the more assists you're going to end up getting.

Oh jeez man....well hey, guess you got me there huh? Bottom line is it's LA, man, the 2nd biggest sports market in the world (and STILL without an NFL team, lol). They'll be back like they always are, they're still a great franchise, and theyll win more NBA titles in the future, and probably so will Detroit.

But let it be remembered that in '04 Finals, they embarrassed themselves and got spanked -- hard.

I hope the Lakers get some things figured out in the off-season and return a better team next season, as I like the Lakers and was pulling for them to do well in the playoffs before they got to the Finals.

they still trail the Celtics by two. Not that the current sorry-ass team in Boston lately is going to add to their 16 titles anytime soon though.

Look at the top of this page at my post from last night

"Better team won"

You shouldn't be surprised at the shock and borderline denial all us Lakers fans are going through. All indications before the finals started pointed to a Lakers victory. This is one of the bigger upsets in Finals history. The fact that the Lakers didn't win makes us very bitter.

Lakers played like a sorry group of punk bitches all playoffs and were lucky to reach the finals... this obviously showed in how bad Detriot spanked them.

I would like to apologize to Detriot, although I respected them as one of two decent teams from the East, I never in a million years would've expected this... Good job boys well earned.

The funniest thing said about the playoffs was on The best Damn Sports show. One of the guys said " Don't worry Lakers, you will get them in Game 6!"

I thought that said it all. Even though most people in Detroit knew they were gonna be champions after game 4 was over, and most of the Nation knew by the mid point of the 3rd quarter of game 5 it was over. The Lakers fans and the media just didn't wan't to admit that something like this was happining to their beloved Lakers. So, go on lakers , whip the Pistons in game 6.

Read the rest of the posts bro, there are plenty of Laker fans hear admitting defeat. But just to make you feel better, here I go:

The Lakers got humiliated and beaten fairly by the better team,
the black and white striped team! No just kidding!
The Pistons kicked our ass all over the court. They should be proud of their accomplishment. Hell, I think the Spurs would've given them better competition! There, now I said it!
