my take on it is clemens doesn't have to go with them if he's not in the rotation - why bother - whereas bonds he's not a pitcher -he plays every damned day - so why's it become racial?

there's nothing racial about it - nolan ryan didn't go on road trips when out of the rotation and it didn't come up then - it's no wonder bonds has distanced himself from others

if i were the astros and had a choice of having clemens once in 5 days or not at all is a no brainer

Bonds just is attention hungry. He's also a jerk - meaning he like stirring things up every so often. Let him say what he wants, it's not like he's gaining any more fans.

i can't believe a player can say something like that and still be on the team. I imagine if I said something to that affect at my office I would be fired (my head is not in my ass so no chances of that happening) but bonds still gets his 18 million dollar paycheck. if i own the team i sue the fucking idiot for all the money he has earned this year and for all the money i paid him before. i use to be a fan of his but him and john rocker should room together! why was rockers racist rant front page but this racist comment is ignored cuz its barry. shameful.

Well I think maybe its personal in some way. Clemens has said that Bonds is the "biggest asshole in all of baseball". But thats because he is. And I hate when everything just HAS to be about race. He's just a flat-out dick.

As has been pointed out by others, Bonds tries to paint himself as the victim of racial discrimination so that he doesn't have to face the fact that he is a major league asshole. This way, he can avoid personal responsibility for his actions by saying that everyone hates him because of his skin color and not because of his actions.

So while its definitely true that the media have often unfairly attacked Bonds and would certainly attack him if he were in Clemen's shoes, that has very little to do with his race and much to do with his history of being an asshole.

I agree this guy will never win any popularity awards but is it really necessary that we use social graciousness and humility as items used when qaulifying him? He's going to probably go down as the best baseball player of all time and that's an arguable fact. His social skills or lack thereof aren't what defines him it's his bat and the game he uses it in. Let's get off Barry Bonds as a bad guy and look at him as someone who is the best player in his sport. That's it and nothing else. The guy doesn't eat kids and doewsn't kill people. Let's just turn on the tube and watch him play ball and turn down the sound to the TV.

Well, pitchers have to go outside because Barry takes away the inside strike with his pussy body armor.

Obviously, if Barry doesn't swing at it, the pitch is a ball. Barry is given his own special strike zone. Other players have to work with a larger strike zone.
