Angels. Best record in baseball.
I know it's early but I'm excited.
Looks like this team is gelling better than the team that won the World Series. Washburn is back to form, Lackey looks better than ever. Colon and Escobar are solid. Now that Sele is in the rotation it will be much better. Glaus is sick right now (in a good sense), Erstad, Guerrero and Gillen are playing as expected. Once Salmon gets out of his usual slow start it will get even better. And they'be been playing this well without their most consistant hitter Anderson. This team is deep, very deep. It's gonna be a very exciting year. /me waits for next World Series apperance. |
It's a solid team but like you said it's still too early.
i know I'll be attending quite a few Angel games over summer. It might be early, but yes, they have that look of a championship team.
You know its going good when the Angels score only 1 run, like last night, and win. One key player that should be back in the next few weeks is Brendan Donnelly, who if he has anywhere near the form he had last year, will make the Angels bullpen even more dominant.
has colon not dropped some velocity though? read that in a SI article about pitchers and steroids. colon is horse, throws gas and eats innings up. strong team, fearsome lineup!
yeahhhh go angels! haha. i agree though.. it's a little early.
Yes, it's early.
But if you look closely there's ALOT of room for improvement. You got about 4-3 players still not playing to thier potential. Salmon is off to his usual slow start, Eckstien obp is low for him. And once Donnely comes back it will make the bp that much better. |
Well now Erstad is now on the DL and it looks like Guillen won't be going on it...for now. And now we got the Yankees next. Lets see just how well the Angels do now. This may set the tone for the rest of the season.
jesus... the baseball season is insanely long... how can a game... still this early in the season, set the tone for the rest of the year?
if it does, they are not a world series calibre team |
Very early indeed but they are a very good team all around. Great chemistry and situational hitting. Nice mix of youth and veterans. I anticipate they'll win the West. We'll see though...

Anyways.. the DODGERS are right behind.. same number of losses. So nyeh! |
As a Mariners fan, all I can say is "screw you." I am just jealous really. Why did you have to get an effective owner while our whole front office is a bunch of impotent excuse makers?
Well they will never be the mets :)
GO METS! GO Mariners! |

How can you say it's not a World Series caliber team if it's better than the team that won it 2 yrs ago? |
Angels scare me, even with the injuries. Better not be close when my beloved and underpaid Athletics hit the half-season mark, cause you know they like to go apeshit in the second half of the season with 3 of the best 6 pitchers in the AL.
You know when I see a team like the Angels I realize all that's wrong with the Yankees. You can't just put a bunch of superstars together and expect to win the championship...well, unles syou are the Laker's and the Spurs choke on you, but that's another post.
What the hell happened to Colon? That ERA does not look pretty. Getting Guererro was a no brainer, getting Jose Guillen was a smart move.
Dammit the Astros have been doing crappy lately. They've dropped a lot of close games, hopefully they'll work their way back to a commanding lead of the NL Central.
angels have been smacking the ball surprisingly with all there injuries, when there healthy should be very interesting come playoff time. they could give up 8 runs but still score 10. that guillen dude is a punk, his comments last night after the toronto game should that he is only thinking about himself and not his team. glad he does not play for my team. go jays!
are there no reds fans among us?
the reds are on fire. after sweeping the dodgers and the astros, who can argue? but as mentioned many times, yes... it's early. BUT last i checked, game #1 is worth as much as #162. it's just harder to climb up the charts later. here's the way i see the reds... starting pitching, suspect... relief pitching, shoddy, even with graves. offense, when healthy, the best in the division. bench, ummm, absent. so it's really up to griffey, dunn, kearns, and casey to stay healthy. larkin never hurts either. but in the best division in baseball, i like their chances. |
