Stanley Cup Playoffs: Round 3 predictions
Well it is now down to four.
Tampa Bay Lightning (1) vs Philadelphia Flyers(3) and San Jose Sharks(2) vs Calgary Flames(7) In the east I predict that Tampa Bay will win in 6 games. I think that Tampa Bay is fast and have a deadly offence, and that khabibulin is playing great in goal. And in the west I predict that San Jose will win in 7 games. I want to say the flames will win, but I just don't know if they match up well with the Sharks. I sure hope that they prove me wrong though, because I will definetly be cheering for them. |

I managed to get 2 out of 4 right last round. Got Calgary with right # of games, and was off by one game for The Sharks. |
Calgary is too hard to predict..

Well, on one of my favorite video games of all time: NHL 97 for the Sega Genesis, I was always the Lightning. So I have to go with them. And I'm gonna say in six.
Also, Iggy rules and the Flames are kickass. They'll take it in five. |
Philly's got to go all the way.....playoff experience must mean something...hopefully.
|
Flyers in 6
Flames in 5 Roenick will see the promise land after the Flyers beat Tampa, but will lose to Jerome and the Flames in a brutal 7 game series. The Cup is returned to Canada and there is much rejoicing. |
I hope for a Flyers - Flames finale but since it's not a good year for me for sport prediction, I go with;
Tampa in 6 San Jose in 5 Oh what a super final it's gonna be *cough* *cough* I can't wait for the rating on CBC. |
flames in 7
tampa in 5 I hope for a philly/calgary final so i can watch all the games on tv, the west coast start times are too late for me. gotta work early. |
I predict that the stanley cup will be awful and boring.
|
No way man. It is going to be awesome this year. FINALLY theres no Detroit, theres no New Jersey, theres no Colorado and theres no Dallas. These 4 teams have won everyyear since 1996. I think everyteam this year who is playing, makes for exciting hockey. I am pumped for hockey now. And I am almost going through withdrawl just waiting for round 3 to start.

Yah, I can definetly understand that. But I think its time for a change.
|
I can't make picks on either series.
I need that monkey that spins the wheel to decide for me. |

- This season's leading scorer; - This season's leading goal scorer (who led the league in both categories two years ago); - The goalie who had the best single-season goals-against average since World War II; - A few other future stars having a coming-out party. You've got the East's No. 1 team and the West's No. 2 team - both fast, skilled, aggressive teams that could cure the NHL of its conservative hockey affliction; a Cinderella team; and the big-market team with a few future Hall of Fame contenders. Weve already seen the dumping of Gen X powers Detroit and Colorado and wannabe power Toronto. Already gone are New Jersey and Dallas. That covers the last nine Stanley Cups won. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay, the East's No. 1 seed, and San Jose, the West's No. 2 seed, are in their first conference finals. Calgary hadn't won a playoff series since taking the 1989 Stanley Cup. Only Philadelphia has made a Final recently, getting swept in 1997 with a different team. Speed, creativity and puck possession are the basis of Tampa Bay and San Jose's games. Calgary uses speed and furious forechecking, but in an artless dump-and-chase approach. Though sometimes expressed with flair, Philadelphia coach Ken Hitchcock's buttoned-down, defense-obsessed system epitomizes the NHL's last decade. The only boring part of the next 2 rounds could be the choke hold style Philly will try to use on Tampa. I predict Sharks in 5-6 with 3 games in OT, and Tampa Bay in 5 because THey will just dance around Philly. |
Flames in 6
Lightning in 5 |
I haven't followed the NHL this year like I did last year but I like it that Detroit and NJ are not in it this year.
Just amazes me that it could be Tampa Bay and San Jose in the Cup finals. TB was the laughing stock of the NHL for years. Kinda like the Clippers of the NHL :D |
Bolts in 5
Flames in 7 Bolts win the cup in 6 |
TB is on a 8 game win streak.. IN THE PLAYOFFS! yes!.

Bolts in 5
