New England
Who's the bigger bitch in New England right now? Ty Law or Pedro Martinez. These guys are so greedy it makes me sick! I know it's a tough question.

instead of making the player the bitch, why not ask why these owners are willing to pay so much? I know that pro players are very greedy, but think about it---If someone was offering you a job for 1 mil/year and you had the opportunity to ask around to get paid more to do the same job, and another offer came in at 2 mil/year....wouldn't you do it? As long as you have other owners who are willing to pay so much, the players will just continue to be greedy.
Now with that said, I would have to say that Pedro is the bigger bitch...right now he is getting paid 17 mil/year. Anyone who will pay one starting pitcher that much money is crazed!!! Why? In this day and age, a starting pitcher who gets 20 wins is considered having a spectacular year. So basically, if Pedro gets to the 20 win mark---he would make about 850,000 per win. Now lets assume he makes the full 35 starts he should make and wins 25 games....in order to make the playoffs, the team still needs at least another 70 or so wins. So what should they do, jsut invest a crapload of money in starters, yeah right. Now if a pitcher wanted that much money from me as an owner, they had better be able to hit .300, pitch 9 innings everytime, and guarantee me a win or else take a hit in the salary. I know I wouldn't have a very good pitching staff, but sometimes logic has to play into it!! |
Duly noted.
Now to answer the question asked, it's Ty Law. He's a top cornerback, he's making top cornerback money, he has two Super Bowl rings and could likely have one or two more in the next few years, and plays in a city that adores the Patriots. And he's a shithead. Pedro is under more pressure because of his reputation. He's getting older and hasn't been healthy, and is losing his effectiveness a little bit. He knows this is his last shot at a big contract, and wants to do what he can while limiting the pressure on himself. Personally, as an Oriole fan who's team may be looking for a pitcher after this year, I'm hoping we try for Derrick Lowe. |
If I where a proffesional athlete I would absolutely take the most money possible. Ty law is the bigger bitch of the two. I hope he gets sent to a very bad team. I wouldn't throw Pedro the money he's looking for. He's not durable and he can't beat the top teams when it comes to crunch time.
Watch out if you want Derek Lowe. Once again he has the most run support in the majors. |
Pedro... basically for the same reasons listed by bouray
|
Law, for exactly the reason djtestudo said. pedro is going for a new contract. Law is trying to shoot his way out of town so he can go for a new contract.
law - 2 pedro - 1 |
Pedro because he can't back up the bitching anymore. Not trying to encite rioting from Sox fans, but we all know he's lost steam off the heater, and the only reason he holds more clout than Law in some people's minds is because a SP is more valuable to a baseball team than a CB is to a football team. Law, as pointed out by djtestudo, is a top Pro Bowl cornerback earning top cornerback money for a good reason. Sure he bitches, but he can back it up.
However, they all make too much money. I was just specific to answer the question. |
