NFL Draft Grades

I think Detroit probably upgraded their team the most in this draft. What do you guys think, who had the best draft?

P.S. Whats the deal with Dallas passing on Jackson!?!

supposedly, the Cowboys had some concerns about a knee injury that Jackson suffered near the end of last season.

but the biggest reason was that Buffalo gave 'em a 2nd & 5th round pick in this year's draft and a 1st round pick in next year's draft!

And they got the kid from Notre Dame that had 1200 rushing yards last year on a crappy team. So that, plus TWO first round picks next year is a rather good job by Parcells and Co.

I don't know if I would have chosen Julius Jones, there were at least two other backs that probably could have done better, Greg Jones and Tatum Bell.

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

Despite not having a first-round pick, the draft managed to be successful.

Picked up a needed DT to add size to our undersized line in round 2, and a solid prospect at receiver in round three.

Traded our round 4 pick to Jacksonville for Kevin Johnson (LOVE that deal ), picked up LB depth in round five, a backup QB and sleeper receiver prospect in round 6, and a great return man and a tackle they were shocked to have fall to them in round 7.

i dont understand why writers and sports critics arent praising san diego for the trade of eli manning. they got the giants 6th overall pick, a third round pick, next years first round, and next years fifth. the giants on the other hand, received the first pick in the 2004 draft.

i think the chargers are set for the next couple of seasons

by the time Dallas drafted in round #2, Tatum Bell was already gone (selected by Denver).

I would actually give the Ravens an A when you add in Kyle Boller and Kevin Johnson.

Boller for all intents and purposes is our first round pick this year and we got a seasoned veteran who has more NFL catches that all of the wide receivers taken combined in the 4th round.

This is the year for the Ravens!

I am taking a wait and see approach with not knowing how Lovie Smith plans to run his team. 2 DT'd with the first 2 picks should help shore up their weakest position. I was hoping for another OL but defense is what they wanted to target.

GO BEARS!

Go Bears indeed, but Krenzel in the fifth? Other than that a pretty solid draft.

No team did exceptionally well or extremely bad. It was kind of average all around.

I have to say that I'm proud of my Titans. I was worried when they kept trading down, and I was amazed that Ben Troupe was still left when our first pick rolled around. After it was all said and done, I thought all the trading we did worked wonders. I was very pleased.

Also my other team, the Raidahs, made me happy by spending their first two picks on two flat out BADASS white boys, Robert Gallery and Jake Grove. Those are two tough muthas who are perfect fits for the Raider Organization.

I think it has to do with selecting Rivers over Roethlisberger.

You're right on Grove. He's a "dirty" player and should do fine in Oakland. It will be interesting to see how his "hillbilly", pig farmer background goes over, but he should make a great Raider.

Bengals - C although I truly believe Marvin Lewis, while drafting players early, really drafted smart, fast players, capable of making a difference in his system.

I think I would go with everyone else that Detroit had the best draft.

I think the Jets did okay, they got good players in positions of need, a solid B.

I too like the Baltimore Ravens since I went to school with Boller. I was happy with their draft, but time will tell. My beloved broncos get a B- from my perspective since I think they addresed needs at LB and HB, possibly a decent 3rd WR, but really didn't address the biggest concern on the team--DL. I think that Denver could have the best defense in the league if they had another beast to work opposite Trevor Price. I don't know if John Lynch can play, but Champ Bailey is the best CB in the league and they have studs at LB, safety (Nick Ferguson looked real good), and Kelly Herndon and Lenny Walls make a great 2 and nickel cb -- why blow 2picks on cbs that aren't gonna do anything but play special teams? I don't know if Van Pelt or Mauck both needed to be picked up either, though I like Van Pelts athleticism--I hate "trying" players at new positions in the NFL. Isn't that what college is for?

If you add in the Raiders off season free agent moves the draft does look better, the D line ( a horrible weakness last season) is all of a sudden on paper one of the better ones.

i can't tell you how wrong you are with that assessment of gallery. he is not a dirty player at all. he is one of the best technical linemen to come out of the draft in years. he blows people off the ball in the run game and has excellent pass blocking skills. dirty would not be a word i use when talking about him.
