Yeah, that's right, I got tickets for me and my dad to go see the Formula One race at Indy! We are sitting in the paddock pretty much on the start/finish line. This should be awesome!! Any of you guys goin?

Been to everyone. Have tickets for this year.

Bring ear protection. They scream.

If you have any questions, send me a PM.

I'd love to go but I won't be able to. That should be fun though.

:-( i wish i was going. i went to the American Le Mans series race in Portland, OR. i had the paddock pass and the whole three day event pass. it was so freaking sweet. it's such a huge and engaging sports event experience. i definitely plan on doing it again some time.

Guess who's going to the Canadian GP. ME

my first guess on reading the thread title was that it was talking about tennis, but reading that first post and a quick google search would lead to me to believe that 'United States Grand Prix' would be the full term. Sounds interesting, even though I have absolutely no clue about that kind of racing (thought that was F1 was 'funny car' racing until recently, but aside from the smaller cars it looks pretty much the same to my uneducated eye as Nascar).

NASCAR pales in comparison to F1, F1 is the second most popular sport in the world next to soccer.. Ferrari F1 teams budget could pay for more then half the NASCAR feild. F1 is big money, and big glamour.

Oh, and there are no Ovals in Formula 1, all road courses.

Yeah Baby!! I'm going to be right there behind/below/along side you. our tickets are right at the start/finish line as well.
It'll be my first GP race in person. I've been following the series with a vested interest since the mid 90's and this is the first chance I've had to see them live. Just thinking about it gives me goosenipples!

Since cartmen34 sent me a PM about the Thursday pit walkabout, I thought I'd also post the response to him here, in case others have questions:

Last year was the first year for the pit walkabout. I didn't go but saw pictures of it. It was a huge success, probably too successful. Was very crowded. Was difficult for many to see anything. The cars were in their garages and there were barriers erected for the fans to stand behind. I've got mixed feelings on the event. Some people raved about it, others were upset that they really couldn't see much due to the crowd.

Also here's someone's photo gallery of the event from last year that shows how it was configured for last year. If you go I'd definately show up really early for it.

I'll be in what is T1 for the USGP - T4 on the oval. Great seats. Recommend you walk around in the infield during practice and qualifications to see all the infield corners. Some parts are much more interesting that others.

It is an awesome experience. And loud.

BTW - if you really want to get close to the cars, you can watch them leave the pits from the tower terrace seats, just below the victory podium. At pit out many times they will pull up and practice their launch. You must wear ear protection to stand there, its is amazingly loud. Great spot for photos or video.

Man I envy you guys so much, a few years ago when I was in basic training in St. Jean, Que. I was all set to head into Montreal to see the Canadian GP to cheer on Jaques, little did I know my instructors had other ideas and I ended up sitting at a table for 3 hours and only got too see 15 minutes of the race on TV. I'm still bitter with those bastards that gave me duty that day, could of been my only chance to see an F1 race in person, the bastards.
