They better not select Greg Jones. He's the back the Eagles really need.

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

Is it the earlier pick or the 32nd?

per the article from ESPN......

The trade brought Cincinnati the 24th pick in the second round, 56th overall, and gave the Bengals seven picks in the first four rounds overall. New England had obtained the pick from Miami.

Who cares what the Bengals do with the pick? I want to know what the Patriots are going to do with another freakin' Super Bowl Trophy.

Well- I think this is a good trade for both teams. A great value for the Pats where a brusing runner like Dillon can fit in and good to unload an unhappy back for the Bengals.

What would be unreal is if the bengals can now take a couple of these picks, offer them to the Chargers or someone else and trade up in RD one to get soemthing meaningful. Something that 'ol Marvin can use like a shut down LB or a headhunting Safety. That would be sweet.

a [this is good] for JoeyB's comment

perfect trade for both the pats and cincy. I wasn't too sure about this trade being a pats fan at first. not that I don't want a front line RB, but Dillon has some baggage to carry and I'm not sure how excited i was about that on the "team concept" pats (although brian cox, terry glen, and rodney harrison didn't do too much damage)

I emailed my jets fan friend in nyc asking what he thought.

"the best team in the nfl just got much better. F the Pats"

that was all i needed to hear.

Rodney? Damage? That guy is a great guy to have on the team. He is just emotional is all, but he channels 90% of it into the game so no big deal. Surprising to hear his name in that list.

Dillon will be fine. He just wanted out of Cincy for about five years.

beats me mondak. When he came here the impression was that he was a dirty player that could be more trouble than he is worth.

don't get me wrong, at this point I very much agree with you. but on the first day of practice when he nearly killed troy brown on the practice field it wasn't yet clear that he was just really really high motor, and not a problem player. actually both brian cox and harrison were great pats. I was trying to say that they both joined the team with a questionable reputation.

I hope that Dillon will perform like a harrison and not like a glen. I'm pretty sure he will. and for a second round pick I'm more than game to take the chance.

Damn I was hoping Dillon would stay with the Bengals, but I knew that was very far fetched. I'm also wondering what Cincy will do with the pick, but there is no doubt Marvin Lewis knows what he wants.

I was really hoping they would be able to get a first rounder for Dillon, but I guess everyone knew they wanted to get rid of him so they didn't have to give too much. Hopefully Lewis will get a quality player with the pick and the Bengals will continue to improve.

We're just making up for the lost years...

Actually, I don't think this will be a great year for the Pats. The referees are going to be much tighter about calling defensive interference on pass receivers (I don't have a link handy, sorry), and the Pats' D depends on completely messing up pass routes. I don't know how they will adjust.

I appreciate your modesty, but the Super Bowl Champs reloaded with one of the best running backs in the league and gave up very little in return.

Yes, the pick could turn into something, but New England has the picks to spare. Plus, the Bengals could draft someone who lasts long enough to get a playbook, find his way to camp....and get cut.

It's an incredible deal for NE and they have to be the favorites to get out of the AFC again. Indy's window of opportunity is closing and I'm not sure if anyone else is ready to step up.
