All Star Reserves Named

http://www.nba.com/allstar2004/allst...s1_040203.html

East
Jason Kidd
Baron Davis
Paul Pierce
Ron Artest
Michael Redd
Kenyon Martin
Jamaal Magloire

West
Sam Cassell
Peja Stojakovic
Ray Allen
Brad Miller
Dirk Nowitski
Andrei Kirilenko
Shaquille O'Neal

I'm glad to see Cassell and Miller on it. Everyone thought Miller would be bumped out, but I guess not.

JoeyB 02-03-2004 10:59 AM

Michael Redd is a nice addition. It's refreshing to see some new names on the roster like Kirilenko and Magliore.

Bookman 02-03-2004 11:07 AM

Happy for Cassell and Kmart (he deserved it last year).

Artermis 02-03-2004 02:10 PM

Lebron did not make it?

I am shocked.

claps

the coahes got it right this year

sixate 02-03-2004 03:27 PM

LeBron got fucked!! It's bad enough that the fans are too fucking stupid to vote him in, but it's really sad that the coaches are too fucking dumb, also.
LeBron is better than Redd, Artest, and Baron....
Boozer is better than Magloire.

I have no problem with the guys in the West who got in.
Melo had no chance to make the team. The West is loaded with forwards.

jasonresno 02-03-2004 07:24 PM

It is good to see Cassell and K-Mart get their due..but where is LeBron? that is a travesty (jk) but he is worthy of playing there...

JoeyB 02-03-2004 07:55 PM

The problem is that someone has the misguided notion that you need to have a back-up center. That's how Magliore got on the team. I'm thrilled that a guy like Jamal made the team....but the only reason he made it is that the East needed a center to come off the bench.

With the way an all-star game is played, do they really need another big man? Wouldn't it be more entertaining to see LeBron??

I guess we'll have to settle for the rookies game. The cynic in me says that the NBA wanted to keep Melo and Bron for that game so that people would actually watch.

forseti-6 02-03-2004 08:09 PM

I'm glad to see Michael Redd made the team. I too am appalled to see Lebron not making the team. He is having a great year.

No disrespect to Jamaal Magliore, but his numbers are not all star numbers. He's have a good season, but not all star numbers.

Mojo_PeiPei 02-03-2004 08:12 PM

There isn't a better center then Magloire in the East, thats why he got the reserve spot.

JoeyB 02-03-2004 08:15 PM

Perhaps no other CENTER deserved to be on the team, but do we really need another center? What if another position player deserves to be on? Who would most fans rather see play?

Jamal Magloire or LeBron James???

maximusveritas 02-03-2004 08:54 PM

Yeah, I think they need to get the best players on the team, regardless of position. There are a ton of players better than Jamaal Magloire and Brad Miller, but they were chosen just to get another big man on the team. With the center position almost extinct at this point, this is the wrong policy.

LeBron isn't in the same talent league with Artest right now so please don't compare, eventaully he might make it there but I doubt it because he will fall into the scorers menatilty where defense doens't matter. You have to play defense int his league to be great...and really he isn't a baron Davis (even though Davis is a ball hog).

You have to be kidding me. LeBron lit Artest up when they played this year. I watched both games. LeBron had 22 points, 10 boards, and 4 assists in one game. In the other game he torched Artest for 27 points, 4 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Both games Artest was matched up against him. Artests stats weren't nearly as good, and they aren't nearly as good for the season. Now you're gonna tell me that he's not at the same level as Artest. You're right. LeBron is at a higher level!!

Baron's shooting parentages suck for a guard. From the field and from the line. LeBron shoots better percentages from both, and that's because he's a smarter player. LeBron is a better all around player than both of those guys.

Now are you gonna try and tell me that Redd is a better defender? Because he's soft as fuck on D.

better then artest

really sixate what the hell are you smoking

give me some of that shit cause dam its storng

artest is the best defender in teh east and one of the best in the nba

maybe in a few years leborn might be better then artest but he sure as hell anit there yet

sixate 02-04-2004 05:02 AM

Did you even read my last post on this topic?
You guys all say Artest is one of the best defenders in the league, but Artest can't fucking shut him down. There were actually three games where they have played each other, and yes, Artest was matched up on LeBron in all three games. I guess I'll have to give out the stats that LeBron torched Artest for:

22 points, 10 boards, and 4 assists
27 points, 4 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks
The first game, which was early in the season LeBron had:
23points, 5 boards, and 1 assist

Now why can't one of the best defenders in the league shut down a fucking rookie!? The only logical answer is because LeBron is better than Artest, and 98% of the rest of the league. LeBron is no stiff on the defensive end, and he'll only get better.

Ron Artest:...................LeBron James
17.7 PPG.......................20.6.....................Winner LeBron
5.4 RPG.........................5.80 RBG..............Winner LeBron
3.9 APG..........................5.9 APG.................Winner LeBron
2.08 SPG..........................1.49SPG..............Winner Artest

Alright Artest has more steals per game than James....but that is all he has on James.

how about this statline:

Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaleirs 12/15/2003

LeBron James: 27/6/4/3/3
Ron Artest: 16/7/3/1

Oh wow Ron Artest really held LeBron.. WOW! Face it, Artest isn't in LeBrons league.

dragon2fire 02-04-2004 05:23 AM

since when is 22 points torching some one

40 is torching some on yo

the 27 was impressive i will give him that but that does not make him better then artest

o ya who won those three games

thank come again

leborn is the foucs of clvelands offense artest is not who the ball moves thourgh for the pacers

artest gets that many touches then he could of easily scored just as much

Maybe when you fix up your posts to where they are readable I will comment more....oh yeah and each game that Artest was on LeBron, Artest shot around 35-39%...

I guess you just poorly read my message. In those two games James had a higher FG% with more shots than Artest, face it James is better than Artest. IN both games James did helluva better than your boi Artest, even defending him.

dragon2fire 02-04-2004 05:33 AM

more shots thats my point entirely

james is were the offesne for the cavs moves thourgh of corse he is gona have more points then artest he gets more shots becasue his number is called

He would have made it anyway...LeBron is no TMac.

dragon2fire 02-04-2004 10:51 AM

your probaly right but i would not of voted for mcgrady

good

great

but he does not make his team win and imo that should be the bech mark

to calrifiy though the stats have to atleast be close

artest and leborn on the season are basicaly the same more points fomr leborn but more steals form artest so i give the push to the guy who is winning

cactus_bangers 02-04-2004 11:52 AM

oh man i can possibly see the lebron vs. artest argument being valid, but dont even touch on lebron being better than baron davis. davis put the hornets on his back and CARRIED them for half the season. he's a "ball hog" because he's their best offensive player by far, and also the point guard.

damn straight davis should be a reserve...hell he should be starting.

What I mean is how come LeBrons percentage is SO much better when he takes so many shots? Shouldn't it be a bit lower. Also Ron has been around for, what, 6 years longer than LeBron? It took Artest 6 years to be what LeBron is now. Face it.

Actually LeBron has more assists and rebounds than Artest too..don't forget those 'little stats'. pwnd.

IMO, I think/know Marbury is a better player than Baron.

jasonresno 02-04-2004 02:14 PM

You do know that Stephon has had quite a few more years to perfect his ability, right?

dragon2fire 02-04-2004 02:32 PM

ok lets do our home work guys

fg precent leborn is so much better huh?

leborn .411 fg precent

artest .420 fg precent

assit 5.9 to 3.9 the edge goes to leborn there

the rebounds is not quite a few more

rebounds 5.8 to 5.4 thats to close to really say either of them is better

steals goes to artest 1.49 to 2.80

and leborn is only averageing 3.3 more points a game

add to that his team is losing and there is no way leborn is a all star over artest

who is pwned

o btw its called nba.com use it to get stats before coming in here and acting like you know what your talking about

That is where I got my stats, and when I was talking about FG% I was talking about when Artest was guarding LeBron and vice versa, no name calling.

the all star game is about who did better in the frist half of the season not who did better one on one and o if you want to start with the name calling you dam will better be redey to take it so this is your warning if you cant be civil get the hell out i know most of the mods will support me on that any way

this entire conversation is about who should be in the all star game not who did better head to head

and at the end of the day the pacers will be the one or two seed in the east and the cavs will be on the outside looking in

First of all, you didn't own shit.
I said that LeBrons FG percantages are better than Barons.... And they fucking are.
Look that up on NBA.com....

Then tell me who was owned?

you never insulted me sixate and i was not refering to you i apoligize if you thought i was

your quite right about baron having a lower fg precent

i was aguring leborn v artest and the stats are quite close as is shown above

to me in a push its the winning team that has teh all star

OH my god I am crying, I am really crying I am SO SORRY I called you an one more time and you're banned, wanna see if i'm serious?

And yes, we are debating on why LeBron is better than Artest. Ok Lets look at it this way:

one on one analysis
LeBron has more ppg
LeBron has a better FG%
LeBron has more rebounds
Artest has maybe 1 steal more
Artest has a crappy FG% against LeBron

So, lets tally that up...who is better? And, of course Artest team is winning..they have two decent players on their team in O'Neal and Miller..yeah they are just average though. Right? Yeah. Right.

dragon2fire 02-04-2004 03:07 PM

will do

.4 precent is a push dude there is no clear winner ther on the rebounds and the other stats (your not reading my post are you ) taht i said above are very close its not like one out right owns the other any were

so how do we decide the allstar o yea the team that is winning

miller is good but only putting a small number of mins a game

end of the day the top to scorers on the pacers are artest and oneal

jasonresno 02-04-2004 03:13 PM

But you have to look at the help!

Pacers:
Jermaine O'Neal
Reggie Miller
Ron Artest

Cavalairs
LeBron James
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Carlos Boozer

Now seriously, who do you expect would have the winning team? Ok let us put it this way, you are starting a brand new franchise you have to choose between Artest and Bron, who would you choose? If you pick Artest explain why..in detail not "O CUZ HE GETZ TEH 2 STEALZ PER GAME1111!".

Also Artest has had around 7 years in the NBA, LeBron is a rookie..and is basically better than Artest.
