Carolina vs. Philly
I'm a Carolina fan. A pretty huge fan, actually. Season tickets, flags for the car, paint the face (at least my kid does) etc. etc.
Few will agree but, I think we can win this game against Philly. Our season has been full of games like the Rams game last week. And we've been very successful in winning the close ones. If we can keep them close, I like our chances even better. We've got nothing to lose. Philly is on their third try in as many years and they are going to get hammered next year when it comes to salary cap issues. They need to get it right this time. I think the humility that Coach Fox has instilled in his team this year will also go a long way. The team has been flying under the radar all season but even when they do get some national press time, these guys are not chest beating and talking all kinds of junk. Philly on the other hand has a pretty cocky attitude and that may work against them also. I know the Eagles are going to be tough but us Panther fans are still cautiously (not wildly) optimistic. After all, don't the good guys usually win? But, you know, even if they get waxed on Sunday, going from 1 and 15 to the NFC Championship in two years.......Well that ain't bad. Way to go Coach Fox. GO PANTHERS! Oh, I almost forgot, McNabb is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week! ![]()

The key is whether the four-man front of the Panthers can get enough pressure on McNabb that he starts making mistakes. Also, to contain him enough that he can't use his legs like he did last week.
If they can contain and hurry McNabb, I think they will win through his mistakes. If not, he can do so much that it could get ugly.

Carolina coaches and players sat down to watch the Philly/Green Bay game tape and drooled. Why? What they saw is a team whose weaknesses play directly into their strengths.
DeShaun Foster will run rampant against a Philly defense that didn't show any ability to stop Ahman Green. Carolina really runs the ball well, and unlike Green Bay, won't get away from doing so. Second, Philly's offense has been doing just enough. And they haven't seen a defense as tough as Carolina's. Look for Carolina's D to contain McNabb just enough to win the battle on that side of the ball, as well. Carolina by seven. |

Naw, Eagles will win. They've been here three times, they won't let this one slip away. McNabb will rush for 200 this time around if he needs to. He also distributes the ball evenly, and Staley is a good back. Hopefully Troy Vincent can play and contain Muhammed and pick off some of Delhomme's passes, he tends to throw some INT's, but if Carolina's DeShaun Foster or Davis runs it in, then they probably have a chance. I see this game going down to the wire and being decided by a 2:00 drive.
Eagles or Panthers though... it doesn't really matter, seeing as the team that deserves this the most is the Colts. Sunday it will be 33 w/ a few snow showers, pretty decent weather for being Foxboro, Manning is no pussy, he can throw into the snow just like Brady, if not better. Hopefully they advance on Sunday and beat the NFC team in the Superbowl.

Of course, you can't count out Mr. Donavan F. McNabb, but the record shows that it will be hard. They're facing a team built to exploit their weaknesses, and that has the potential to negate their main strength. Quote:
I think both will be great games, though. Panthers 17 Eagles 14 Patriots 24 Colts 20

let's bet, I would agree that Carolina probably will win, but the Colts are going to beat NE, and it won't be a close game either. I'm thinking 31-17. The thing about the Colts is that the group of guys on offense has stayed the same for a good number of years. Manning by now knows where Edge, Harrison, Wayne, and now Stokely are on the field at all times. Last time they met, they lost to them by a yard, but this time they will be better prepared despite playing in Foxboro. Manning is probably the smartest QB in the game and he'll read NE's defense and make changes accordingly. The Patriots' last couple of wins have been real scrappy, they don't blow anyone out, they just leave it to Adam V. usually, but this time around, he won't get them into the Super Bowl. The amount of practice and film watching Manning has done this week must be insane, he's not going to lose this one. As for the Colts' D, I'm sure Dungy is tweaking things around, afterall, he's responsible for the Buc's Superbowl victory, Gruden didn't change one player on that defense.

Concerning the Colts/Pats quickly: Please remember that the Colts have played a zombified Denver and a joke of a defense against the Chiefs. Couple that with their last two games of the regular season when they scored 17 against Denver and BARELY came back against the Texans (in a game where they needed to win for homefield too). Oh yea in that Texans game they managed 20 points, mostly in the 4th quarter. NE has the best defense in the entire NFL. Period. Not like those guys listed up top. And sorry but I don't think we can base a future game on just 2 previous performances (of course Peyton was PERFECT!). It might depend a whole hulluva lot more on Edge than Peyton... 21-17, Pats win (although I'll be rooting the Colts on)

Predicting football is a pretty tough thing to do, so I'm just going to drop my argument 'cause you never know til gametime. Rams vs Patriots in the Superbowl is a prime example, the Rams were like the Lakers of football, and nobody was going to stop them, but in the last drive, all that changed. This weekend has the best matchups on TV that there has been in a while. All teams have a purely equal shot, but I must say, a grand Superbowl would consist of the Colts facing off against the Eagles.

wow, looks like NE is really whooping the Colts. Tom Brady's short passes are pretty badass... they totally replace the running game, he's earned my respect, nice pick by Law too, these guys really play well together despite not having any real superstars. Hopefully the Colts can rebound in the second half and put on a show so that it's a little bit more entertaining. May the best team win.
